2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

You mean stasya has a better chance than Alina? How come? She finished behind her at the Euros.
I suppose the best team is Sonya (consistent, she can back the other 2 if they bomb and help to keep the three spots), Alina (if clean, she has huge score potential), and Liza (if she gets back the 3 axel can compete for the podium). But i doubt they will go with 2 Mishin's girls, plus Stasya is their fave.

Imo, Sofia and Liza have earned their spots based on their performances this season and have shown they are the most reliable of the Russian Ladies. If Liza is in decent shape, she should go to Worlds. Two skaters having the same coach did not deter the Fed last year. As I said before, Stasya has had a chance and underperformed at every single ISU championships. How can they justify sending her to Worlds again?

According to Gorshkov, the alternates will go to the final of Cup of Russia and then the fed decides based on the results from there and from Euros. Which in theory means that anything's possible, but let's be real: the most likely scenario still is that Stasya is going to be replaced by Liza. Evgenia will have to show exceptionally good results to be considered over her or even moreso over Alina. A win over Liza with very high scores, stable training sessions and two completely clean programs with a Loop combo, I'd say. Unlikely that anything less will do.

The best bet for a worlds team is Alina, Liza, Sonya. You’ve got a possible winner (Alina), a possible bronze/silver (Liza) and a super consistent one who will probably podium if the possible winner doesn’t do so good (Sonya). Stasya is too much of a risk, even though she’s really good at free skates. Zhenya, too, is a bit of a risk. After all she is still yet to put out two good performances.

I’d be really surprised if they went with anything else. I guess if Liza isn’t good to go they may try to figure something out as to who takes the spot but the cup of Russia final will likley probably be used only to determine the alternates.

Yes, this is exactly what I gathered from what what Gorshkov said:

"The federation is going to analyse the results of Europeans", said Gorshkov, "The decision about the roster for Worlds will be made depending on the results of Europeans and the Cup of Russia where we'll be able to take a look at the alternates. After that the coaching board will hand in their suggestions."

I know I have entered an alternate universe when winning 3 Gold Medals and 2 Silver Medals is considered "unreliable".

And what do you call 2 disastrous free skates at consecutive competitions? The reality is that it’s a cause for concern and taken into consideration when the Fed decides on who to send to Worlds, where spots are on the line.

Her SP was pretty darn good both times.

Good enough to get her a Silver Medal here.
And to finish above Evgenia and Sofia at Russian Nationals.

A competition is not just the LP.

Alina has had a pretty good season even if it’s been less dominating. I’ll take it any day over winning and then taking the next season off as we’ve seen so many others do. She’s earned a trip to the WC as much as anyone just for gutting it out this year. Tough kid ;)

At this moment no her place is not safe rusfed already made a statement that the decison will be made after the cup of russia. They will decide based on that and euros so yes it could be that the do decide against alina.

Na Alina already said that she will go to japan with Masaru in an interview. Alina and Sofia are locked. I think it’s for the third spot.

I don't think the trip to Japan with Masaru is for Worlds.
At least that is the impession I got - because she said it was "soon".

Objectively measured, it will come down to simple statistics: the probability that skater X, Y and Z achieves the set target (winning) score of Q with xx% reliability. xx probably being 90% or higher. Both in controlled training under duress and based on recent high level competitions under full scrutiny of the technical staff collective.

Both Zagitova and Samodurova need to display consistency and reliability, there is no time for big changes to their SP and FP routines.
Who the third skater will be? I don't think Medvyedeva will factor in, as she cannot be tested in controlled trainings outside of Russia.

There is still an inherent unreliability in any such equation, technical scores can be objectively assigned to skaters, execution scores much less so.
I wonder how this is dealt with?
To win in World Championships you'll probably going to need 75 plus in the SP, 140 plus in the FS, those are huge target scores.

Ah ok. Even if it’s the case, I can’t see them not sending their olympic champion who finished second in GPF, second among the national senior skaters, and second in the europeans.

Today Daniil commented European Gala exhibition and said who will go to Junior Nationals from "Khrustalny". Trusova, Sherbakova, Kostornaya and Usacheva. Valieva will not go because of a small injury.

Oh no! I read something on twitter but wasn’t sure if it was true, but if Daniil said it during commentary then I believe it. Does anyone know if Maya be added as a substitute?

Can you tell me when is Junior Nationals?

For the FS that "if clean" is becoming a much bigger 'if', it's unfortunate that they can't do a switch for the SP and FS, let Alina do the SP where she is fine and then put Stanislava in for the FS where she does remarkably well.
