Meissner on Top of the World

Hey Sean - We could bet cookies.

My odds above stay because I know what Miki can do I'm going for her over Kimmie but not by much

Carolina, at 6-1 odds, for me is a skater which I have never found that interesting but she did do well at Euros, so I see her above the others whom I have placed the odds at 10-1.

For most of these skaters getting to Japan is a loooong trip. Depending on how well they plan the journey will be a big factor in the outcome. I remember Bobek dropping in late at the Nagano Olys and looking like she just woke up. She did have a cold but had she got there a week before to practice, she could have gotten rid of the cold before she skated.

The problem with arriving early is that the skaters lose loads of practice time. They will have only the allotted practice times on the championship rink. They DO need to arrive early enough to get over the jet lag, but getting there more than a week beforehand will cut their practice.

Well...is it possible to make arrangements to train at a nearby rink in the meantime?

From what I've heard, ice is scarce in Japan. And if there is outside ice time, the Japanese skaters will have it all sewed up.

How about Asada 30%, Kim 20%, and Ando and Meissner each 15%? The remaining 20% can be scattered throughout the other hopefuls. Kostner and Rochette probably both grab 15 of that 20%.

Usually, there are other rinks to practice in the surrounding area. The owners would be only too happy to rents space or oranize a group session.

I don't know about Tokyo.

Nope, there is a shortage of ice in Tokyo. It is a problem.

Isn't there a rule (i get the feeling that there definitely used to be at least) prohibiting skaters from practising other than at the official rink? I seem to think this became an issue a good few seasons ago for some reason. Maybe that rule is only once the competition officially opens?
