Thank you! I agree, I think many people put a little too much faith (and pressure) in the 3A. From the current point of view it seems likely but if I learned anything in my first season of properly following figure skating it's that you can't ever take anything for granted, so I'd wait a little before declaring pretty much every other skaters' career dead.
its bad that they choose Med but I guess they want to go for broke, if Med skates clean she will medal for sure. Tuk if she pops her 3axel it was over for her in Worlds. At least they got rid of Konstantinova who would have probably placed between 15 to 20th place.
or that they are banking on Med to skate clean coz she has higher scoring than Tuk
that's a big if, coz she hasnt skated clean all season.
I agree, Alina deserves her spot, she medaled at every competition except the National when Zhenia didn’t make the GPF and euros.

Ok, Russ Fed already said that they pay only for living expenses and flights. If you check what apartments cost in Toronto, it's roughly between $1000-3000 CAD/month depending on apartment state and location.
I doubt Medvedeva spends $87K on food a month are you kidding me LMAO
It was only by a small margin it’s not like zhenia’s victory was incredible and 222 with a fall is very generous, internationally her score would be lower. Sofia didn’t fall at Euros and she get 213.

Because it was not my point from the very beginning and you just picked the details that convenient to you in your argument. My point as I stated it in the first post was that the Fed's choice to select Medvedeva was partially driven by the fact that if she does not go to WC (where she has to deliver but that's a different story) her season will be a failure. And then questions may be asked why the state pays for her training in Canada when we have many coaches in Russia? And whose decision it was?
The article that I did not read at first was trending very high so that it was very visible with it's heading of "$90K per month". The number will supposedly stir the public no matter if it is right or wrong. Some other media events may further raise the topic. The investigation may start. And then it does not matter whether it is $90,000 $9,000 or $900. Officials may become responsible and accountable. That's why it is for their best interests that she goes to Saitama and shines there.

I feel really badly for Liza. But no one should direct vitriol or hate at Medvedeva either- it’s not her fault and she doesn’t deserve anyone’s wrath. If you want to be mad at anyone be mad at the Russian Federation.
I wish all the girls luck at Worlds and hope Liza uses this as motivation.

87k Rubles isn't that bad... like $1300 per month, not unreasonable in 2019. It's actually on the cheap side. But even $87k a year is hard to believe if it's on just an apartment. My friend living in Manhattan (as in I walk out the door, go a couple blocks, and then I'm in Times Square) doesn't spend that much in a year on his luxury apartment.

I agree this is a lose lose for both zhenya and liza...I prefer zhenya over Liza and have so much respect for what shes done for herself this season, but it should have been Liza to go, no question.
I cant imagine how it feels to come back so strong with a triple axel, make GPF and have a mostly strong season and your fed still chooses a skater who has been struggling all season who hasn't been able to really put out 2 strong back to back programs until now. Ugh, I really am gutted for her.
I think extra time not focusing on the stress of competing would have been beneficial for zhenya too while she still adjusts to life and skating in Canada.
Well, not like anybody can do anything about it, so j wish the best for both of them. But this was very stupid by rusfed.
