2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

I see the idea was to have two slots next WC.
To have a much better catfight between Tutberidze's girls.

As a positive moment for Tuktamisheva she will not be responsible for the total loss.

:palmf:

So the final group for ladies SP will be Alina, Evgenia, Kaori, Satoko, Bradie, and Elizabet.

Now that Evgenia will be competing, Rika no longer makes the final group.

Rika needs the boost the least since everyone is expecting her to win anyways. I haven’t followed Elizabet tho so I’m surprised she has enough points to be in the final group.

I think Rika will actually be in the final group, ISU world standings list is not updated yet. She might move ahead of Bradie as well.

This is a sport. She owes nothing to her fans.

For that reason his fans do not owe him anything, and with that he should remain silent when criticized for his mistakes instead of making a drama... but to the happiness of millions of Russians, this is his last year with the federation ... that or get used to being booed as soon as you step on the ice in Rostelecom.

So until yesterday the narrative was "Sofia and Alina are enough to keep the 3 spots" and today it's "Zhenya will make them lose the 3 spots11!!!11!!!!"??? I fail to believe most of you who say that you're concerned for her well-being if she doesn't do well. But thankfully she was shown love during the last 2 national competitions which obviously gave her confidence, and I hope she'll cling to it and not let anyone else get to her.

With the 3A turning senior next season, shame on you for wishing that they lose the 3 spots.
No most just don't like zhenya, , and really if they had sent Liza and Liza would have fallen on her 3a than they would have been screaming why didn't you take zhenya, now they take zhenya and if she doesn't deliver its why haven't you sent Liza, or even if alina bombs at world's than it will be why didn't you leave her home... No matter what they will always be arguing

I don’t think any skater’s expenses are $90,000 per month ?!
In USD too, lol. How would ...say Cha Jun Hwan's parents afford that? Or the other new student Jason Brown?

Between 2012-2014, Yuzuru received scholarship of estimated USD100k a YEAR from JOC for his training in Canada.
Patrick Chan's training expenses in US was reported to be $120k Canadian dollars a Year in 2011.

I dont think inflation levels increased so much from 2011, 2014 to 2018.

I like Urmanov's take on the decision.

“I understand that the current Russian Cup final was held in order to view three of our athletes at one start - Evgeny Medvedev, Elizabeth Tuktamyshev and Stanislav Konstantinov. And as far as we all know, Medvedev won this tournament. thus it was determined. I see it this way, "said Urmanov.

Just realized Liza is off the team and Evgenia is chosen instead. It is a really bad decision because I don't really see Evgenia as a better skater than Liza at this moment, not jumps, not spins, not ss, not even performance, interpretation or transition. I would actually be happen to see Evgenia going if her problem is just jumps. Now if even she does not fall, her other marks should not score high and certainly not much GOE on her jumps.

I agree Liza is far a stronger contender than zhenia, she already prove it at GPF and she was beat only by 1,71 point

If both skaters skate cleanly, Evgenia would win. With mistakes, Evgenia still earns higher scores whereas Liza doesn't have much room for mistakes. However, based on the season, it's more likely that Liza would put out a cleaner performance.

It came down to who the RusFed wanted to bet on and it's clear they feel as though Evgenia is the better bet. I don't necessarily agree with that...however, I wouldn't bet against her either. She's one of the best competitors I've ever seen in this sport. For her sake I hope she puts out strong performances.

Even with a clean skate I can’t see her win against a clean Liza in an international competition. I bet Rusfed decided to send the last queens, European champion, olympic champion and the 2017 world champion. They certainly want to see a showdown between Alina and zhenia on an international stage.

I disagree. Liza’s base value and the GOE potential is much higher. Not sure if Evgenia’s component score could compensate for that. Moreover, EM’s current’s programs are less complicated in terms of
transitions and entries than in the past, and the program is also part of the component score. Her spins have visibly detereorates as well.

I can accept all kinds of arguments and I wish EM well, but lets not pretend that Salchow and Toeloop are better weapons against Rika than Liza’s 3A and gorgeous Lutz.
