Alina Zagitova

Still overwhelmed. Congrats Alina. World Champion:dance3:

There is something to how her combination loop jumps have been performed when it mattered most. Her gentle and quiet personality means she doesn't get credit for the pure grit and toughness these things require.:coffee:

But oh well. She's won everything now. I wish her peace happiness and an amazing off-season with her family!

A little late to the party, but CONGRATS TO OUR DEAR ALINA!!! She fought for it, and I am SO PROUD of her. I can't imagine how difficult this season must have been, and to have it all finally come together for her at Worlds, speaks to this girl's mental strength and grit, and also her coach's expertise (congrats to Eteri!) I was at work all day and could not watch live, but reading all of your messages of congratulations and support made me very, very happy indeed. I also love her interview afterwards. She is so candid and gives simple, straightforward answers from the heart.

Btw, here is the version with TAT's commentary- would again love if one of our Russian speakers could translate. TAT seems very pleased with our Alina, as she should be!! :luv17:

I didn't want to write all this  but seeing that some are having doubts about Alina made me want to speak up for her.

Now it is not wrong if you want Alina to have a good rest, the season has been hard and part of me, too, wishes that Alina will get a bunch of sponsorships and money and retire to a tropical island with Masaru to live happily ever after.

But, I do not think that will happen.

A year ago, Alina faced the top skaters in the world at the Olympics. Clean skate after clean skate, season's best after season's best. She beat them all. Now, one year later, old rivals have fallen away and new rivals have appeared. Triple axels and quads, which have not been a factor of ladies' skating before, have appeared. Yet Alina still stands at the top of the podium.

By winning the World Championships, Alina completed her very extensive, very impressive collection of gold medals. She has proven that she can find in herself the motivation to continue to work after winning, and after losing, that she is as gracious in defeat as in victory, and that no amount of doubt from her detractors can stop her. In fact she silenced many detractors with her wins. She has proven, as she set out to and as we fans have known since February 2018, that her Olympic victory was no accident.

This is a triumph of the human spirit.

Alina isn't the kind of girl to make empty promises about winning the next Olympics. She didn't even let the media know that she was training quads until her coaches spilled the news. Alina didn't train quads for Worlds, her current tech was enough to win, as she proved with her shiny new medal. Now that her gold medal collection is complete, Alina can focus her time on other things. She can safely renovate her tech without worrying if it would create problems for her regular training, because it doesn't matter how much she wins or loses for the next three years.

The next gold medal that matters is in Beijing 2022. And I believe in Alina. :hap10:

All of this! She beat skaters that have a quad and triple axels in their arsenal today! That has to do wonders for her confidence going forward.

The only times that she hasn't won - whether it was World's in Milan or Euros or GPF - it was because she beat herself. She didn't skate clean and gave the win away. No one has beaten her yet when she skates her absolute best. Or even close to perfect. Or just clean. That day may yet come, but it is not today!

Alina has struggled this season and kept on fighting. This victory is truly well-deserved! Really happy for her.

I hope we'll see Carmen one more time at the team event...
will the team leave this program for another season? what do you think?

Carmen is so good..

Yes I was wondering if Alina will be on the team event or not. I would like to see her carmen performance once again at the WTT plus in Japan but for the next saison I want another free and short.

Actually I hope she will not go the that event. I think better for her to rest a bit than train hard for the next 3 weeks for that. Then she has some shows in Japan. And I'm sure they will work hard with her on new elements. She need to be relaxed and ready. But If she will go, sure I will cheer for her and enjoy her skates.

Forgot about golden skate lol but CONGRATS ALINA!!!!! WORLD CHAMP YEAH BABY! I cried so much [emoji23] what a state, me uncontrollably sobbing from happiness at 2am. So damn happy for her, she fought til the end and she made it. 🥇🥇🥇[emoji175][emoji175][emoji175][emoji1377][emoji1377][emoji1377]

You are probably right. End this season on a High Note!

Guys, I've been so emotional ever since Alina set her feet on the ice today that I could hardly make it through till the end of the day. I've read all the posts you've left and couldn't agree more with the opinion that this is a fantastic Fan Fest and you, we, the fans make it a stronghold for Alina and her fans. I believe in the supernatural and I'm sure that the fans' enormous amount of positive and supportive energy helped Alina to execute a superb performance (both in her SP and FS). Her strength, courage and fighting spirit is extremely inspirational. It's just incredible how this not yet 17-year-old young girl can move so many people regardless of age, sex, nationality etc. etc. There's obviously something magical and positively contagious about her, which can bring very different people together. Her coaches and everybody on the Team Tutberidze deserve a giant THANK YOU and infinite gratitude for raising, training and giving us such beautifully talented athletes, who are wonderful human beings as well. This is the time of rejoice (and ice cream and sushi), and I really, really hope that Alina won't finish her competitive career and we'll have the chance to root (and "die") for her in the upcoming season(s). And now, I'm gonna open a bottle of some quality Russian champagne and drink to the triumphant victory of our Queen of Ice. Cheers! :)

The ghost of Milan finally shaken off! I'm so happy she now has the full set of major golds. Can't wait for next season :)
