Some fans that wanted to give Alina gifts before Worlds also mentioned that Eteri was not happy, and Alina was not available.


There are many possible causes - injury, psychological issues, Alina's chronic knee pains, or something entirely different, or a combination.

"We don't communicate before competitions [with parents], but this time my little sister, she is 10, called me before the short program. And I am already putting the skates on. She asked: "How is it going?" I said it was all good, that i was getting ready for short program. And then she said: "Don't you dare falling!" My younger sister saying this to me! This motivated me a lot."

For me, this kind of confirm there were some major issues and the WD possibility was serious.

Pairs finished, Sinitsina&Katsalapov are silver, Stepanova&Bukin 4th (we say "they got potato medal"). Final numbers: Russia received 5 medals, United States 3, China, France, Kazakhstan and Japan 1 cross each.

Thanks, that was a lovely interview, giving insight in Alina's character. Figure skating is such a small world, despite all the travel the world over, skaters live out of their suitcases and only see the inside of rinks, apart from the occasional cultural program or excursion and their private shopping walks.

Glad to find Alina interested in so many things off the ice, how she lives with her pets, etc. Glad also to read she sort of lives by the day in her skating, not lingering in the past, always looking towards the future, to chances to improve herself, to chances at competing in front of an appreciative audience, to chances to show that audience what she is capable of on the ice.

Hopefully she'll be able to go scuba diving, swim with dolphins, groom horses or any other such experiences that make you realise the beauty of your life and existence.

Sasha just scored 176 for her FS at Spartakiad. Hmm, it was a solid skate, quad lutz and toe were perfect, technically she was flawless. But she was ahead of the music the whole time, not sure why her PCS were 4 points higher than Anna's. Anyways I guess that is national scoring, but it is an insane score to say you achieved nonetheless.

They were all ahead of the music as there was a delay in transmission!

Anna had 2 falls (albeit on 4lutzes) which may explain PCS.

Probably internationally would score about 160

That was just incredible. Both quads looked fantastic. I think that is the best I've ever seen her. Holy cow.

50% on 4Lz (5 out of 10 attempts in competition)
50% on 4T (7 out of 14 attempts in competition)
25% on 4S (6 consecutive falls and 2 consecutive success)

Other than that, her loop combo has 30/33(90%) success rate across the past 2 seasons. 3F success rate is 97% (35/36) and 3Lz success rate is 96% (43/45) but all "fails" are due to loop combos. 3S, 3T and 2A have 100% success rate.
