does anybody know if kimmie has arrived safetly in Tokyo? There are no pictures of her on USFSA, there is one of Emily.... I don't know what happened with the weather situation. Ingine if she coudl not get there in time? that would be weird. and awful. they could not even send an alternate becaue it would be to late!

Did u see a practice video I posted a couple of days ago. She was pracitice 3+3, but fell on the second 3t.

She arrived long time ago. There's a photo she's at the opening ceremony.

She must have a big pressure because the US men missed a medal.
If B and A follow the same..

Well it's not like she hasn't won a medal at worlds YET. Mao is only going for her first, if I remember correctly, right?

I read an article that she had a rough practice today. Falling several times on her 3/3.
Meissner's Baltimore Sun "hometown" paper has a reporter in Tokyo covering her at Worlds -- here's the article in question:
http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/...322,0,2514661.story?coll=bal-sports-headlines
Excerpt:
During her 40-minute practice today, Meissner was having trouble with her triple lutz, falling four consecutive times.

"I had to do damage control on the lutz," Meissner admitted afterward.

So she went out and in the final five minutes of her ice time snapped off seven clean ones in a row.

"I would have kept going but [Gregory] said, 'No.' I have to get mad enough, and then I do it," the skater said. "That's the way I fix things. I think I have it down, now."

With the Japanese Armada mounting the question may turn into, will she medal? over, will she win?

At this point, I really see Meisner fighting for bronze -- I think it will be Mao and Miki ---- but, I've eaten my words too many times to count

NO. Miki will have another melt-down. She's obsessed with quad, and that's not going to save her.

I believe Mao and Kostner are definitely going to be on the podium. The other spot goes to either Yu Na or Kimmie.

At this point I'm seeing Gold for MAO and Silver for MIKI as well. I don't think Yu-na is at 100% health. I see her getting 4th or 5th at these championships, sadly.

Kimmie will take Bronze because she's the defending champion.

I predict Ando on the podium. Yes, she's obsessed to 4S, that's because she has confidences to rotate, and hang on to the end even if she fails it. Not like the old system, one mistake is not crucial if she has high base-values and determination to recover from it.

I give my cheer to Mao, Miki, Kimmie and Carolina.
If everyone skates clean "she" has no chance for a medal.

funny

I found it's funny that you guys are predicting Ando will be landing on the podium. On what basis? Do you know if she's had great practice in 3+3? All i heard was that she's been falling on that elusive 4S. Nobody knows if the rotations are there. I really hope she won't put it in. It's going to be a disaster if she falls and then 4s downgraded to 3S.

I really believe medal is out of reach for her at the moment.

I really don't think she will win either. Haven't seen anything great from her this year.

Wanting her to win is asking too much. I think if she got either bronze or silver, both of those would be a major accomplishment! Remember, she wouldn't have beaten Asada + Kim last year if they were at Worlds, so if she loses to them this year, it doesn't mean that her skating has gotten any worse!

The question about Kimmie this year is whether her programs this year will be technically and artistically better than the last's. Hopefully, yes. If that turns out to be true, I'll be very hapy for her.

Yeah, true, maybe. There's just one little problem though- she has that burden of REIGNING WORLD CHAMPION.

As for Ando- she's hot and cold. But Asada sounds like she'll be taking names...at least during the short program. I have trouble saying Asada will conquer the pressure on her because she's unproven, but she seems to be doing so well so far.
