2018-19 U.S. Ladies' figure skating

The 3Lz-3T was under-rotated. Sadly, I don’t think she’ll ever do another clean 3-3 anytime soon. You never know, but considering her boot problems and constant and consistent injuries, it just isn’t feasible. But then again, Vincent was able to somehow fix his under-rotation problems so maybe Karen will too?

Seems that Vincent has been working ridiculously hard to improve though - and with many specialists. He’s still in Japan, training with Mie Hamada.

It sounds like Cornell is a lot more lenient regarding leaves of absence compared to Yale. According to the College of Arts and Sciences page you can apply for a leave of absence of up to 5 years. So Karen could do her freshman year and then take a two-year leave of absence to prepare for the Olympics.

I still think Karen's delayed Lutz is beautiful. There's a sort of old-fashioned virtuosity to it. Delayed rotation doesn't help you with the current iteration of the IJS but dang if it isn't pretty.

Polina Edmunds posted another video today. Watch her story --> https://www.instagram.com/polinaedmunds/

it's nice to see her attempting some hard combos, although the toe was cheated. i hate to say it, but i almost have a little more faith for a comeback from her than gracie; polina's jumps have always seemed like they've come easy for her. i really think if she committed 100% her URs would go away and she'd be at least top 5 in the US.

11 year old Mia Kalin attempting 3Lz-3Lo --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMc0gz6WIrA
She’s obviously very impressive. She’s only 11 and she does skate like an 11 year old when looking at her program videos. She doesn’t jump like an 11 year old though. I hope the skating skills, posture, etc. will be worked on leading up to her JGP debut in about two years. Lots of talent and potential there.

Although Alysa isn't my favorite skater of all the US ladies, I'm definitely most excited to follow her season next season :) Of course, ice is slippery and anything could happen, but excited and hopeful for her!

USFS has released the ISP list for next season. The ladies have to be competition-ready (which means having the required TES minimums for the GP, for example). More ladies can be added after the summer competitions.

Does this mean Gracie must do summer comps? or is she going the regionals-sectionals-nationals path?

Anyone that score poorly during the last season, must earn their way back on the ISP. She definitely needs to do summer comps, early to get a CS spot. She’s going to have to score more than 160 points to lock in a spot. If not she’ll have to go to regionals and take her chances there. Same with Polina.
