Kimmie????

What does Kimmie need to do to win? Does she need a miracle?

She needs:

1) To skate her absolute best (i.e. pull off a dupe of last year's FS performance)

2) Rely on Yu-Na, Ando and Kostner to make crucial, gold-ending mistakes

3) Mao needs to miss her 3A

4) to not only land all her jumps but to actually "get into it".

It's possible, just not likely. Exactly like last year...she skated her best and the skaters above her all made crucial errors. The only thing that seems to be different this time around is that it sounds like Kimmie actually skated a solid short, but the others were just better than her. That means it's going to be even tougher for her. Even one mistake on Kimmie's part means no Gold. Too far behind, and she'll need to be flawless again.

The odds are against her winning, unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you see it).

Red Dog - while it is probably true that Kimmie will probably need all of your 4 factors to win gold, it is also true that there is a 50-50 chance that each of the 4 will happen. In fact, if 2,3, and 4 all happen, she won't need No. 1.

No. 2 - Yu-Na might make a couple of gold-ending mistakes, and Ando and Kostner, judging from some past performances, could both EASILY blow it. And besides, I keep seeing references to Yu-Na's "relative lack of techinical content in the free. So................

No. 3 - Mao has not been consistent with the 3A for 2 yeqrs now. So...........

No. 4 - "Getting into it" is in the eyes of the beholder. So...............

My own take on the above is that Kimmie's chances of winning are pretty damn good, simply because the other four have been more consistent at being inconsistent than Kimmie has. Is that clear?
