2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

True.EG has developed all her top skaters and brought them to their highest level. She would have helped Elena too. But it never happened. I sort of wish Eteri had gotten Gubanova a couple years ago. EG make a difference. Yes EG is a tough cookie but the results are there and then some.

Take off your rose colored glasses, dude. Eteri has had plenty of skaters in and out her revolving door and she's trashed more of them in the media than Buyanova could ever dream of. Yes, Eteri has made a few skaters very successful. And plenty more ran away.

2 weeks and a few days until the junior test skates, I can’t wait that long!!!! But what is going on at the CSKA club, I haven’t heard from them in a long time. I’m dying to know music choices, especially for Sinitsina and the Russian turned French skater Kuzmenko. Why do we keep hearing from the Sambo70 club and not from CSKA?

Lol.This is what buyanova interviwed about Nastya.

Is Nastya modest?

– She’s a real athlete. The one with whom you can communicate, she has her own opinion and I like that. She is able to explain her mistakes, which make the work of the coach easier. She can take a punch. It happens that a figure skater just listens to your monologue, but with Gubanova we always have a dialogue.

Is Nastya lazy or like that? She's definitely not.She has a goal and she works hard for it.This is how she could survive from all those dirty corruptions. If the training was not for nastya,It's okay It can happen.
But if they felt guilty about what they've done, they shouldn't have expelled her at least with even no informing and saying her inadequate athlete. There was no problem between Nastya and her former coach. The reason she switched her coach is T.tarasova underscored her badly and ruined her career at all.All things happened because of T.tarasova.If she didn't make such stupid things ,this wouldn't have ever happened.

I remeber that and Buyanova glowing on about Nastya! It was amazing comments. Now the nastiness the other day from Buyanova to Nastya trying to harm her career. Keep that bleep in house tell her privately not publicly. Buyanova comes off as phoney speaking so great of Nastya then trashing her.

What about Tarasova? Can you prove that? Hmmm. CSKA is a sinking ship under Buyanova and Tarasova. TAT was great. A long time ago. Now they are being schooled by Eteri and Sambo 70. That must be hard to swallow. :party2:

Huh? I dont get your anger. I'll take it that you woke up on the wrong side of the bed. But I plan to make you feel better with my post. :luv17: Hugs too SF.

What I said is the truth. EG is NOT perfect and I CRITICISE her when necessary. But her results speak for themselves and she has built a dynasty at Sambo 70 in the last decade from nothing. And I believe she would have made Radianova better than she was and Pogo too for that matter like she did with Medvedeva, Zagitova, 3A, Libet, Yulia etc etc etc. And etc. ;) Of course she has had some failures (The great Orser too IE: Lilbet) and not spoken well of some kids when they left her. Just like other coaches and when it happens I say how wrong it is. These kids spill their guts out for these coaches and that should always be appreciated. I am sure we can agree on that.

Anyway I trust I clarified things for you.

Sinitsyna and Kuzmenko are coached by Svetlana Panova and Tatiana Moiseeva, they work on a different club called "Snow Leopards".

I haven't heard much of them, sometimes they do summer camps in US with Arutyunyan, maybe they're there but not sure.

Thanks. It sounds like a promising coaching move. Atleast artistically and with choreo. Remember that hideous brown and orange dress Buyanova had Nastya wear at the beginning of last season? :(

Oh yeah the black-brown part wasn't that bad, but those neon orange accents were yucky.

Tomorrow it will be a year since Daniil posted that preview of one of all the Eteri kids' programs. I hope he will do it again, as the Novogorsk camp just ended.

Hard to believe they put her in that. Hopefully Nastya is in the right spot now and will thrive and create beautiful programs like she was born too.

Maybe its not a well run facility. Sambo 70 for instance has blown way past CSKA. But I hope CSKA makes a comeback because Russia needs more elite ladies than just at 1 or 2 rinks.

Sambo-70 has 5 out of 7 skaters on the women's senior team, 1 out of 5 senior men, 2 out of 6 junior women, 2 out of 6 junior men, 3 out of 5 junior girls, 1 out of 2 junior boys. All these athletes in the top group of FFKKR with all the finances, prestige and accolades that comes with the ranking numbers. Sankt Peterburg provides the other senior skaters, other Moscow rinks only some of the juniors.

Sambo-70 is the powerhouse of Russian figure skating. Results bring money, money brings results, media attention, appearances, endorsements, sponsorships, etc. An upwards trajectory hard to follow, match or break for the other Moscow rinks if FKKM is responsible for dividing the money.

I thought Dariya Pavlyuchenko/Denis Khodykin were also Sambo-70 skaters, but at Chaikovskaya rink?

Perhaps TAT meddles too much at CSKA?

Which juniors can we expect trying to qualify to Senior RusNats this year? As I understand it, they need to be 14 years old.

My hopes are for Tarakanova, Sinitsyna, Kanysheva, Vasilieva, and Tarusina and Gubanova (if they're not full senior :()

Unpopular opinion, I know, but I thought Gubanova's orange-accented dress was pretty cool. It was interesting without being gauche, modern, and stood out from the crowd. To be fair, it probably would have been better suited to an older skater, though.

Wait, wait.. Russia needs more elite ladies? Scott, I enjoy your post often and your general vibe on this forum.. But Russia needs more elite ladies? ;) Seriously? I don't mind at all, but where would they send them all? There are barely enough international competitions to fit them all.

Russian Elite includes only three ladies: Zagi, Med and Tukt. Others are potential elite. To be seen.

I'm afraid all three are already reached their top levels and hardly may progress further.

Me being especially sorry for Tukt, the unlucky one.

Well, Russian "potential-elite" level is a already the elite level, they just can't get a spot on a team for international competitions, because other Russian girls are a bit better. Even rookies (ex-juniors to be seniors) with their previous season level of skills and programs are way better than anybody else non-Russian in the world. Except few senior Japanese ladies, I really cant see who can challenge them now. Whom do we have here stateside? Bradie Tennel? Gabby Daleman?

Thank you Alex. But what I really meant was they need them spread out more at other rinks throughout Russia not just one or two as it is now plus Zhenya in Canada.

There is power in numbers.

Khrustalniy is so good because there are lots of excellent skaters in constant internal competition. Everybody is on their toes and learns all of the time, nobody wants to lag behind, assuming you are ambitious and hard working as a skater.

Having one elite in your rink is only a distraction for the other skaters that have to give way.
Plus one elite doesn't bring in sufficient resources, like trainers with different expertise, choreographers to maintain the level.
Only a rink like Khrustalniy can sustain an in-house dedicated choreographer and even Gleikhengauz is strained with providing for like 20 skaters.
