2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Thanks for your addition to my post. I agree about what you said and it‘s a good point to consider that Aliona didn‘t have as much time to show versatility in her programs.

Elena definitely beats them all at performance. I mean, say what you will about her but girl knows how to perform! [emoji3] I‘m a bit hesitant about interpretation, though because to me, while she was always very engaged in her programs, Elena‘s moves with her arms were somehow all over the place and I don‘t think she always moved her body in correlation to the music. That‘s kinda a harsh way to put it and I‘m sorry I don‘t have another expression but I always felt this (alongside her posture) was definitely something she could work on. But she was definitely more passionate and emotional and I think this is something Aliona needs to improve. She‘s lovely to look at when she skates but she could engage with the audience more. Also, do we know anything about Elena? It doesn‘t look like she‘s competing this season, or have I missed anything?
I think IN can have a few different aspects. I always looked at it, that it's very strongly tied with Performance and correlates a lot to the story portrayed and such. Also I definitely agree, Elenas posture definitely isn't the best(even though it might just be rose-colored glasses but it didn't seem that bad last season she competed?) And ooooh Elenas Arms are probably one of the most conroversial things, I, for myself like them a lot because for me it's not flailing at all but actually quite expressive.

And I honestly do not know what Lena has planned for next season, it would surpeise me tho if she actually competed, because she doesn't seem to touch on her own career at all in recent interviews. She was just at the Denis Ten show and I thought her spins were great(as always), she wasn't at the buianova training camp though so I do doubt it, sadly.

All time cool name: Evgenia Medvedeva, "Noble-born honey-bear."

Also, U.S, men's skater (Armin) Mahbanoozadeh: "Son of the Goddess of the Moon" (Parsi).

Uuuu you gave me an idea now

I'm pretty surprised that so many here think Alysa Liu will have a significant chance of playing spoiler for Russian dominance this year.

While I think she's likely to be favored at the American JGP event, otherwise I do not think the judges will be so kind. Her jumps are consistent but also small and at big risk of UR, and her skating is slow with pretty weak SS. The Russian juniors will outclass her in basically every way at this point. And I'm not trying to be negative about Alysa - I'm generally a US lady fan! But just being realistic - she has a lot of development to do. She's version 1.0 of US "wunderkind girl", and the Russian ladies are on version 5.0 of their own wunderkind girls. They're leagues ahead of her.

I won't be surprised if she wins gold in her first JGP, but I think she will have a hard time placing higher than third at any other JGP event. But it will be interesting to see how JGP assignments pan out on both sides.
Weak SS has never stopped judges from showering skaters with PCs if they have high TES.

Sadly, judges don't always take actual performance into account. Besides, junior PCS scores are usually capped at 8.00-8.25, so the gaps between skaters will be smaller. Whether wrong edges/underrotations will be called depends (unfortunately) entirely on who is in the panel. Anyway, it's bit early to predict the result. We haven't seen the programs of Russian girls and their situation with jumps and other elements. Can't wait for the upcoming week.

You can't be serious :'D.
Come on, if you are able to find detailed PCS of "the next best Russian lady, whose name you can't remember now ", you are capable of finding her name as well ;).

BTW Med, as you like to call her, isn't an option either. It's really disrespectful, don't you think?

Sorry, I can't serve, I've never ever used that acronym ;)

Of course, just like for one other skater only negative things are discussed here and anything positive is avoided. ;)
_______________

Sometimes I feel like you and me are a mirror image of the 2 ends of a stick

edit: Also, you can praise Alina without dragging Evgenia too ;)

I didn't start that. But as I've been -splained several times, this is not anyone's fanfest, people can be more critical here. So if one can be dragged in negative way (quite unnecessary to me), why not the other?

People put few parts together from spoiler on her insta, few newscasts snippets from Japanese TV. And ...drumroll...

Zag's alleged SP for 2019-2020 season.

Enjoy. Few parts as spins, step sequence are still missing, though.

Here's a reason for you to like it: it means honey in Russian, and most other (if not all) Slavic languages

Really? I never knew that. How cute :) Usually it's people who don't like her that call her "Med" (why is that) but now I can look at that name more fondly :)

You can have whatever opinion you'd like. Many people expressed similar and contradicting opinions. To be honest, your entire post comes off as petty, disrespectful, and in bad taste to deliberately make a point to not say a skater's name and boast about not saying it, pretending like you didn't know. We should all remember that these are figure skaters here for our entertainment. No matter how much you like or dislike someone, they never did anything to you personally.

She got quite lucky at her first JGP because she doesn’t have to verse any of the quad girls here. Although both of them can put up strong skates and especially Sinitsyna when she’s clean because she has a high base value with 3Lz+3T+2T, 3Lz+3Lo (and she may add the 3A). Alysa will probably go to Gdańsk for her 2nd event and I’m predicting maybe Maya or Daria might be there but I don’t know how their quads are going

Yes, you have.;) Unfortunately, I'm too lazy to browse through your posts to find the reference and prove you wrong. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

OK, how can anyone withstand such perfect charge full of irreversible evidence. You should know this line: "Chopte se mne, pochopové."

I agree. I’ve never quite got the big thing with Aliona’s artistry because I can’t engage that much with her performances and she isn’t passionate or emotional like Anna. I enjoy the aesthetics of her skating skills and positions very much and she has nice musicality but the only time I’ve seen a hint of expression is in the second half of her angel SP and vampire ex. I don’t think she realises how to interpret calm classical music yet...I always feel like a terrible person for thinking that and feel like the only one in the world who thinks that [emoji23]

We are not her to judge anyone's taste or character, because, as long as we are not in ancient Athens, such attributes can't be decided by voting or claiming.

Guys,

Judges mark SS and other components not by alleged reputation or general fs-community consensus, but by the actual performance that they just saw. (or at least that's how they supposed to be judging).

I dont get those talks - skater A has better SS than skater B, so her PCS should be higher by default. This is not how it works.

SS judged not solemnly by the speed or the depth of edges, and not even by the elegant posture and arm waving, but there are much more factors at play there. Open the rules and read. Those talks you guys are having here are just your personal subjective tastes. Nothing to do with the actual way the judges usually mark components. Educate yourself. I know you probably read them, probably not even only twice. But I still recommend you guys to read the rules again.

... and yet  The irony. Not worth it. If that's how'd you'd like to reference skaters, then fine, but don't act surprised that people won't engage with such posts in good faith.

You still got involved. I don't mind it when people express their opinion here even if they don't like Evgenia, but you can't keep crying if someone says something about Alina. What you feel is being done to Alina here is what I feel is being done to Evgenia here.

Thank youuu. It took me 2 seasons to understand that and as a result last season was more enjoyable for me.
