2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

I‘m actively mourning the gorgeous Ina Bauer we saw in the promotion video. Daniil.... why...

I mean, come on, look at the difference....

Other than that... interesting new transitions, spins are more beautiful and flexible than ever. She‘s not too used to such movements and expressions yet so I‘ll give her time to really get the feeling of that program. It looks promising as in it could help her mature and show more emotions. It will surely get even better over the course of the season. I think she looks beautiful in the dress but seeing it in action now, I‘m not too sure it‘s that fitting for a figure skating program. So, hoping Olga will make something even more beautiful for her. I definitely prefer this program to last year‘s (both of them) and think it has potential just... that Ina Bauer and that one half-spiral annoy me. I hoped to finally see real ones from Alina because I know she can hold those moves, she‘s just never been allowed to do it in a competitive program.

Everyone: I wish Alina could hold her Ina Bauer longer
DG/Alina: LET’S MAKE IT SHORTER.

Jokes aside though, I really can’t see a place in the choreo where a longer Ina Bauer would have fit well. The Ina Bauer in her SP does serve its purpose or transiting in between two moves well, and although in past programs a longer held out Ina Bauer might have been more interesting, I don’t think that’s the case in this program. She’s certainly capable of holding it out long, as seen in her ice shows and in the promo, but its not really what this program needs imo and might have, I feel, ended up pretty extraneous and taken away from the program as opposed to adding onto it.

No way to talk about any athlete. Olympic champion or dead last at nationals. Compatriot or someone from your biggest rival country. Doping is one of the most serious offences from an athlete. Not something for an athlete with any ounce of good sportsmanship to accuse another of.

Of course not CMW. That is no way for Nastya to act. Nastya needs to be counseled. While she didn't say Alina was on things she intimated it from what I understand saying its either hard work or chemistry in a live stream q & a. What a terrible idea that was. I wont watch those live streams. I have no interest. Yes Gubanova is to blame for even talking about the possibility of something other than hard work and talent for Alinas meteoric rise. But it was a live stream and she was 15 and she was not as mature as her skating was at that age. Now it comes back to haunt her 18 months later thanks to devious measures from the media. It makes no sense why someone would want to do this to her now. Its like kicking someone when they are down. Its vicious. I hope Nastya and any other Russian skaters struggling in their careers get the counseling they need to live a productive life in or out of figure skating. If her career over as you say it is Colormyworld then she will need some major counseling. Nastya has not dealt well with 3A Alina Sofia Stasya and others passing her by and is envious which is somewhat normal. But unlike others its hard for her to hide that envy 100% of the time. We all want to know where her parents are. But I think there are other children to raie and maybe they are letting Nastya pretty much do it all by herself. That is risky. Obviously.

Where is Dasha? I worry about Dasha and now Nastya because I was was failed athlete in college after being a really good baseball player in high school. In my senior year of high school I suffered leg and ankle injuries that affected my ability to be a good baseball player on the next level and I even got cut from the team my freshman year of college. I was depressed and needed and got counseling but my freshman year was a washout and it took me 5 years to graduate from a 4 year college. I eventually got over my devastating failures but I needed help even though I didnt think so at first. And these skaters are at a much higher level of sports than I ever was but we all go through the same emotions when when we fail and others pass us by. Thats why I am wondering if Russia has professional people in place to counsel some of their struggling athletes like Gubanova Panekova Nastya T Adelina done at 18 etc. Not everyone can be like Polina T and move on at 17 like nothing happened. Maybe Sam Tolstoj and other Russians who post here can tell us whether Russia has people in place to help struggling athletes like Gubanova and Panekova with their careers and life and dare I say life is more imortant. I hope Both Nastyas and Dasha can come back and do well If not they have long lives to live. But they may need some assistance figuring things out and accepting reality. I know first hand its not easy to deal with.

there'll be probably more over the coming days and weeks, but these are all recent and with the juniors from Novogorsk.

Perviy is pushing Khrustalniy, just to make TAT envious, LOL :dev2:
but seriously, Khrustalniy is where it is all happening, they lead, the other rinks follow and many are panting trying to catch up.
Khrustalniy brought athletism into figure skating, elevating the sport to a whole new level of difficulty that demands a whole different training approach and intensity.

I was worried when they announced the music, but I actually like this short program for Alina far more than last year's! It's a lot more cohesive. I don't even mind the miniature Ina Bauer (more like just... a quick back bend, really).

The dress is fine, to me. Nothing to write home about, but nothing inappropriate or distracting, either.

Something that first drew me to skating and Zhenya in particular was that her programs were story-based. Tbh, it was a really novelty idea from Team Tutberitze, and i like it that the tradition continues, even if sometimes it feels too much. It's just different.
I really hope the programs don't all blend in each other due to being made from one guy lol [emoji23]
And honestly, i feel like Eteri is better at choreography than Daniil [emoji23]

Alina’s new SP is beautiful and it’s only exhibition. There’s always rooms to improve and I’m looking forward to see it in competition.

Yes, she's definitely up to the challenge and it'll be nice seeing the progress :)

The season is starting and I'm feeling a burning excitement and i love love love it :D

Where is Dasha?

Read in the news that she has posted a story saying she's not retiring, she just hasn't fully recovered from her injury yet, so she's not skating, but coaching kids in the meantime.
That seems like a long break from skating.

It makes no sense why someone would want to do this to her now.
People that brought up this Q&A don't care about Nastya - she was not their target, she was just what they call "a useful idiot" for them. Current headlines in Russian media like "Zagitova did not deserve Olympic Gold", "Zagitova accused of doping" might give you an idea who was.

Where is Dasha?
If you mean Panenkova - then she's busy training kids at the moment. She answered that in her insta - since her leg is still troubling her so much that she can't actively train herself, she decided not to waste time and do smth else instead and train kids. Oh, and she adamantly denied 'leaving the sport'.

Something that first drew me to skating and Zhenya in particular was that her programs were story-based.

I like Alyona Kanysheva's story behind her program.
In the clip she says it's about a girl, who's reading a letter from her close ones and memories/nostalgia feelings start to overflow.

Yes, and Kanishek is precisely at the right age and maturity to express this convincingly and to convey the emotions of a child reading a long awaited letter.
Hopefully her routine will be as good and touching as Anna Shcherbakova's Dreamcatcher, which I found a superb piece of artistry by a child.

Come on! How do you know where each of them is. Or do you know?

How did you find out that I'm learning Russian and decided that i can use a lesson? [emoji23]

In all seriousness, i have to translate it in order to understand, and the GS app doesn't help :D

Edit: if translate was kind enough to tell me what you said, no I don't know everything of course, but from what I've seen in documentaries it seems like Eteri has some really cool ideas.
My favourite works of Daniil are Zhenya's Anna Karenina (still heavily influenced by Eteri) and Alina's Black Swan (hands down best SP that season).

I apologize. Google translator let me down.
And now I can’t delete it for some reason.

Don't worry, i don't mind ^_^. It was interesting seeing what I wrote but in Russian. And I'm genuinely interested in learning more and more (already understand things, mostly in figure skating context [emoji23])

I wanted to ask how do you know where Daniel’s hand dominates, and where is it more than Eteri. As far as I know, they always make programs together.

Do we know the nicknames/monikers (клички) of the A skaters from Khrustalniy?

Alina Zagitova = ?
Alyona Kostornaya = Kostorka I am pretty sure of
Anna Shcherbakova = Shcherbaka? (which sounds awfully close to собака, which means dog, so I suppose not)
Aleksandra Trusova = Trusa? (which is too close to трусики or girl's knickers, so I suppose not)
Alyona Kanysheva = Kanyshek/Kamishek I am pretty sure of

Just for fun ...

I don't know, sorry, it's mostly a feeling I have that if they were to do a program by themselves, Eteri would be better
