2019-20 U.S. Ladies Figure Skating

She has a great 2A (especially for a 12? 13? year old) so I wouldn't be surprised if she starts working on 3A in the upcoming years. Since she'll miss 2022 Olys, she has a very long time to get herself prepared assuming her goal is the Olys. I wonder if she will begin competing in Juniors next year, or hold off until maybe the next season. To my unprofessional eye, it definitely seems like her team is working on the right things, so good for them!
Isabeau is 12 and will turn 13 next year. The jumps, basic skating skills, extensions, and flexibility are there and I’m sure they’ll continue to improve as she ages. Her dream is to indeed make it to the Olympics.

Also, for those asking, Alysa performed her old Short.

Junior Grand Prix Latvia:
- Gabriella Izzo
- Isabelle Inthisone

With the assignments out, there are 6 spots left. Alysa Liu, Hanna Harrell, and Gabriella Izzo will probably receive two so that leaves 3 spots left. Thus far, I have not been pleased with how the federation has given out these assignments. Are they really going to let girls like Kate Wang, Lindsay Thorngren, Sarah Jung, and Elsa Cheng stay home whilst giving assignments to girls without clean 3-3s and a history of inconsistency?

EDIT: So... I am NOT a math major apparently... 8 spots left... not 6.

Yes, I don't why they are sending isabelle. She didn't reach the isp score and doesn't have a triple triple in her program. Her highest score this season was 149 total. Kate wang, Lindsay thorngren, and Sarah jung have all reached over 160 and these girls have the potential to be the future of skating. The US needs to give these girls experience so they can improve. US have many spots this year, I hope they don't keep wasting them

You mean 8? There are 7 events and we’ve got assignments for 3 of them.

That means four events with two spots = 8. So in theory those girls could still have a shot at getting a spot.

Isabelle did five programs in Philadelphia. She did both the club and int’l competition. That’s pretty neat. I don’t know if that helped her case but good for her for getting out there.

... This is what happens when you sleep for five hours. Math... went out the door. Thanks for the correction. With Alysa, Hanna, and Gabriella primed for two spots each, that leaves 5 additional spots. I hope Kate, Sarah, Lindsay, and Elsa at least get one assignment each unless one of the already assigned girls surprises and is in prime condition for the Final (which I doubt since Russia has its new batch of wonder girls coming up, Japan has a young lady with a 3A, and S. Korea already has a few junior girls already scoring 180-190).

Hmm, this means Pooja might not get a spot, which is a shame - but she can probably do a senior B or two instead, at least. I was hoping she would have a better outing at Philadelphia.

Isabelle earned 149 in the international and 123 in the domestic, so I'm very confused on how these assignments are working

Isabelle is a budding talent as well. She's been training the 4T, 3F+3T, and 3Lz+Eu+3S. Despite the low scores during the summer, she usually peaks later so I hope she's ready for her event at Latvia. Calista is a very talented skater, but splitting her time between pairs and singles might not bode well for her in the future. I just hope all of these girls do well, but it is frustrating to see the top girls not being assigned yet, especially when girls like Kate peak early in the season. Thus far, all of the girls who have been assigned are from very prominent coaches/teams which is even more irritating because that points to a lot of politicking.

Summer Scores of Junior Ladies Assigned to a Junior Grand Prix:
- Alysa Liu, 214
- Hanna Harrell, 182
- Gabriella Izzo, 169 (Last season's best was 182)
- Jessica Lin, 164
- Isabelle Inthisone, 148 (Last season's best was 148)
- Emilia Murdock, 146 (Last season's best was 176)
- Calista Choi, 138 (Last season's best was 160)

Summer Scores of Top 5 Junior Ladies W/O a Junior Grand Prix Assignment:
- Kate Wang, 164
- Ellen Slavicek, 163
- Sarah Jung, 162
- Lindsay Thorngren, 162
- Elsa Cheng, 158

I realized that too. All these girls are very talented and hard working, but the federation, rather looking at the scores, they are assigning skaters with coaches who probably have a good connection with the federation. This is not the way to go. Having a triple-triple in a program for junior ladies is the kinda of a requirement now.

I wonder if part of Isabelle's selection is due to her bronze at Novice nationals. They may want to reward those that peaked at Nationals (i.e the "right" time). Also I did not see Calista Choi or Aubrey Ignacio on the list of scores at unseen. Are they competing? Is Isabelle the highest ranked remaining Novice?

Aubrey Ignacio scored 100+ at Glacier Falls and Calista Choi scored 138 at an earlier summer competition then 136 at Philadelphia. Choi fell twice in the Short and once in the Long. Isabelle "barely" met the proposed I.S.P. score for Junior ladies which is probably 150-160 since all of the Junior ladies on the I.S.P. except for Choi, Inthisone, Ignacio, and Murdock passed the threshold. Kate Wang supposedly met the criteria according to her team, but the list has not been updated yet.

Calista, Isabelle, and Emilia all did not reach the isp score this season. I'm thinking that inorder to compete internationality, you must reach the isp score. So these skaters who haven't reached it yet are being sent? I guess the isp is worthless in a way...
And I believe if these skaters don't reach the score domestically, they are probabaly not even ready to go out yet.

Calista and Isabelle reached their best score at the egna trophy 2018. Kate, Lindsay, and Sarah all earned over points 160+ this early in the season. Imagine how much their score will increase by nationals with an experience.

I've no idea what the system is, but they've been adding junior ladies that qualified for the ISP list prior to the post I saw of it in early July. At that point, the ISP ladies list was this:

Starr Andrews (GP)
Mariah Bell (GP)
Karen Chen (GP)
Calista Choi
Ting Cui (GP debut)
Amber Glenn
Hanna Harrell
Courtney Hicks
Aubrey Ignacio
Isabelle Inthisone
Gabriella Izzo
Pooja Kalyan
Jessica Lin (added in early July)
Alysa Liu
Emmy Ma
Emilia Murdock
Akari Nakahara
Audrey Shin
Bradie Tennell (GP)
Megan Wessenberg

If you remove the athletes that have competed at least once as seniors (at least at the CS level), the list would have looked like this:

Calista Choi
Hanna Harrell
Aubrey Ignacio
Isabelle Inthisone
Gabriella Izzo
Jessica Lin
Alysa Liu
Emilia Murdock
Audrey Shin

7 out of 9 athletes from that list have been selected for a JGP.

This was one of the strangest moments in the comp to me. When Isabelle came out for the club comp, the spectators were  and . Like didn’t she just skate?

And Isabelle did a fine job (and won) the International earlier in the day. And completely tanked, for lack of a better word, the club comp. I think she fell on all but two jumps. Now, the poor girl was skating the same LP twice in one day, so no wonder she was tired. But I am really not understanding the strategy.

However good for her for getting a JGP slot:thumbsup:

I think it's a good problem to have when the junior ladies' field has so much depth with so many girls qualified for a Junior Grand Prix slot. Once Kate and Lindsay get an assignment, I will be able to sit peacefully again. Our junior ladies may not be as strong as the Russians, but they are getting out there, landing those 3-3s and learning those 3As and quads so good for them.

Isabella has a 3-3, Izzo does as well.
