2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

I was never a fan of Kanysheva but from all the girls she was the the best today, imho. Contrary to many opinions, I kind of really enjoyed the choreo. Usually calm and lyrical music doesn't turn out well on the ice, however, this program is really working for her. Exquisite skating skills and musicality, which I must confess never knew that she had! Well done! I've read somewhere that she had an injury and that's why she'll focus on consistency for the coming season. What can I say, I already see her as a consistent skater. Very masterful control on her body movements, no trembles, no signs of fear.

Valieva, on the other hand, unfortunately was nervous and it showed. They also seem to have changed the choreography in the beginning and I don't find it very well fitting as the initial one, but that's the price for a more difficult entry into a jump.

I I looked at the video of her sp, and for me it is also a bit to much leg kicking that absolutely do not go along to the music, and her 3-3 combination is also a it wonky, but she is talented and young

I like lines and extension, but some of the hyper flexy stuff borders on contortionism to me and I personally am not a fan. I don't care for the current style of rhythmic gymnastics either--full split, fine, but I don't need to see almost broken hips... Not necessary in skating.

I agree with you. I love her spins, but I didn’t realize until today that basically all her choreography is high leg kicks/flexible leg stretches. It does seem like they try to focus on that way too much and it seems almost unnatural, borderline-contortionist, like you said.

This is just an opinion but I’m not sure why I just noticed the extreme amount today. Maybe since it wasn’t her best performance.

This is likely an extremely unpopular opinion, but Maya Khromykh was my favourite today. I was not a fan of hers last season but she really impressed me. Her jumps had incredible lift and control and looked so confident. Her movement quality is much better this season and she’s really finishing all her movements really well. She also listened to the music and moved really well with it.

For me, I am very sad to see Kamilas flying camel go. It’s too bad that flying sit is required because that broken leg position she does is not attractive and travelled a fair bit. Also the beginning of the program seemed a little aggressive to me compared to last season, it looked like she was rushing a bit. The jumps looked nice though and I expect her to do well on the JGP.

Kanysheva was also amazing today, jumps were nice and clean and I really enjoy her step sequence!

I wish they had given usacheva a new program. She is too good for this music, it doesn’t show her best qualities.

Sinitsina and Tarakanova also looked very solid, it seems tarakanova is doing well being back with Panova.

I am very excited to see these long programs tomorrow! Good luck to all the girls.

Loved Sinitsina and Tarakanova today. Especially Sinitsina-if you watch carefully, she has some interesting choreographic elements that are unique and difficult. I have always felt Sinitsina is overlooked, and it is a shame. Today, it seemed to me, that she came out with new attitude-For me-it was just WOW. She was strong, powerful and elegant. And the program (for me) gets better every time I watch it. Tarakanova as well-although some of the sloppy things are distracting, I love her sheer power and speed. I wish they would fix her posture, because the rest is so good.
All 8 girls were so good-looking to the future, the ones who pull ahead will be those who can land the 3A or the quad. That will be the difference in the future. I agree about Kamila-(overusing the flexibility) but I noticed on warmup she did the 3L-3T over and over again. She wants the jumps, and they have gotten better. When I watch her I'm sorry she didn't go into ballet instead of figure skating.

What is she saying in this video?

Oh my god, what's up with all these live streams? :ohwell:

They start talking about how questions on interviews can be stupid and hard to answer
Friend: well, try and answer the question, but beautifully and not stuttering/bumbling like Zagitova. *Makes an impression of Alina*: em..eh..well...eh..well..tomorrow I..possibly maybe
Alyona laughs
Alyona: you know, I think she said she can't comment anything about Medvedeva, I'm sure it's not because she doesn't want to speak, but because she doesn't know how to say it.

Based on what they were talking about, I suppose it's from last year, when Medvedeva left and Alina was asked about it on tv and said she doesn't want to comment.

:rolleye: girls...

You forgot to talk about Maya. Did your bus arrive too early? :)
Seriously, I see in her something special among all these girls, even if I see that she does not have the qualities of a “child prodigy” like Camila. And I'm interested in your opinion

Yes, I haven't missed my bus since the last post

I haven't seen as much from Maya as I have from the other two, so I will write her bit after more time!

I'm hoping to see Valieva's quad today too [emoji14]

Yeah, and the owner of that little rotten channel just put those clips up to discredit, slander and attack.
