2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

If this is true, than Eteri's ladies will really crush anything in their way. Please let this be true. But I will rather not rely on that, it is always better to be surprised than disappointed :)

Being coached by her is why so many girls want to go to her. EG gets her girls to improve like no coach I can remember. And not just one or two girls. It's insane what's going on there with the ladies. While Buyanova has failed miserably with the ladies since the Sochi Olympic games in 2014 Eteri has taken things to another level or two or three since then with the ladies. Other coaches just can't keep up.

Looks like Adelia Petrosyan (2007) has moved to Tutberidze team :hap10:. Really happy about this. I liked her very much last year but she was so very inconsistent. Cannot wait to see her in the new season.

Yes, I remember Petrosyan from early in the season Moscow events.
Seems the move was made in April 2019 or thereabouts.

Some of her results: https://fskate.ru/skaters/5222.html and https://www.sportvokrug.ru/fs/athletes/41/
Some cllps with Adeliya:

Sergey Dudakov is listed as her trainer, so she is already on the Khrustalniy roster, unless Dudakov also works at Moskvich rink?? ;-).

Adeliya is born 2007, so a good compatriot for Akat'yeva, Knyazev and Lukin. And Petrosyan has an example to work towards to, since she is about 40-50 points behind Sof'ya.
Her patronym is Tigranovna, so will her moniker be 'Тигра' = Tiger?

#TeamTutberidzeForProgress is where the discipline is strictest, they only pick the hardest working young skaters. And every addition to or release from the group is newsworthy.

Good luck and sporting spirit to Adeliya. Will be interesting to closely follow her progress to see the Tutberidze-effect at work ;-)

I wonder, do they actively scout for talent or just apply very strict criteria in their internal test skates? Many parents will send their kids to Khrustalniy for evaluation, as by now it is known everywhere this is the top rink in Russia.

Exactly. I will link one older post from another thread:

From this everybody can make quick conclusion what Eteri did for Alina. She came to her as literally unknown girl in 2015, one of the hundreds girls somewhere in the middle or at the bottom of novice competition results. Within four years in Khrustanyi Alina became the most succesful russian lady skater ever.

This could also still serve as an example for the girls of the agre of Kamila, Daria, Maya and co., who are not that succesful, that there is still time, just need the right coach and work hard.

Since Eteri's success has skyrocketed since 2015, it seems unlikely that she would accept a middle/bottom-tier girl who is 13/14 years old, when she can instead get a top tier 13/14 year old (such as she did with Kanysheva) or take on a newer, younger 10-12 year old.

Here are some unfounded rumors, originated from one source at sports.ru, who presumably have some access to Chrustalniy via connections with some athletes parents.

Elucidus what are you doing? This is obviously a fairy tale.

She writes disgusting things about skaters, but does it in a pseudo-realistic style - "Guys, this mother of a little skater, of course, she has a subjective opinion about Trusova cuz training is stopped due to the fact that Sasha is gaining speed and no one should be around. She is mad that Sasha may want to jump for a couple of hours and then her daughter’s training is ruin" This is complete nonsense. how does she imagine the training process? how can little children (the youngest group) be on the same ice with Trusova?

Elucidus i am really surprised cuz you are a reasonable person. Did you yourself read all that nonsense that she writes? This "insider" - is another "urban madman" who wants a bit of attention.

the height of Alina's lutz is improving so maybe?
Exactly why i said a bit believable too :D
And also since one upon a time, a long time ago, we saw Aliona jump a beautiful 3A. And well, the part about Anna's and Sasha's quads we've already seen.

I will do.
There is junior's competition live at the moment:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRwn3KGsPVg

Safonova will be here 1.5 hours later, but they will change the link of the stream to another one.

Thanks, good link from the new and very modern speed skating stadium. And they post the detailed scores in the comment stream. And you'll meet many of the same people from JuniorTV streams in the comments.

Seems BSU wants to leave a good impression on the figure skating world, after hosting the previous European Championships they need to keep their momentum.

And no confusing mix up between Belorussian and Russian language in the announcements and score displays.

I think Eteri has made it clear that no matter how talented you are, if you aren't working hard it simply doesn't work.

I find conversations like "where was Zagitova when Gubanova did this" pointless, because guess what, Gubanova is still scoring the same but Alina has progressed tremendously. Although it's a good progress indicator.

Actually, all of the girls have progressed a lot. I think we should congratulate them too, because without their hard work it wouldn't have been possible.

was she already released or does she have to wait 1-2 years before competing?

She did compete internationally last October, so she couldn’t do the JGP or early challengers. But I’m not sure if she’s been released to skate for Belarus or not.

First, by the right coach I didn't mean eteri exclusively, but I'm glad you are admitting she is the right coach for this type of skaters

But, for second, it was post about the influence of a coach on a skater's progress, not about who would be accepted. But if you want such shift, that it should be said that Eteri's team is accepting those who are able to fulfill training regime in the first place . It is much more relevant than the previous results. Remember that Lilbet wasn't considered exactly as a first tier skater when she returned to Moscow. In the case of Gubanova, during those 4-5 years since 2014/2015 her skating enhanced only slightly, while Alina is on completely different level than she was (and on which is Gubanova). And I doubt that Eteri would accept exacly Gubanova at that time when was among the best of her age.

Wow I never knew Nastya beat Alina like that only a few years ago. It makes Nastyas struggles now even more painful. Coaching matters people. I'm also very glad the great coach kept Alina that one day when she wanted to expel her if you will.

I would agree with you about hard work but I'm sure they all work hard. And no doubt to be coached by Eteri you have to work very hard. I think its fair to say Zhenya and Alina would not have become as great as they did without EG. Its really indisputable. Just like without hard work you arent going to become great.

It is Summer Cup of SUB Open 2019 according to the official score sheets.

So in theory, any Minsk club could hire Safronova and have her compete for them this weekend in the Open division?

In gymnastics, you often see members of the Russia B-list competing the in national club leagues of Italy, France, Germany, often just for one competition after a trainers clinic, training camp etc.

Now, if Viktoriya were to compete as an individual, that's another matter with ISU.

Plus there is always the transfer sum ...

THANK YOU for posting the link to the old thread!! It's amazing to see what has transpired over the last four to five years! I've been reading that thread this morning and it makes me sad for Proklova... And Serafima... And others... I'm surprised I wasn't posting in that thread though back then!

#TeamTutberidzeForProgress is planned obsolescence of sorts, but that's inevitable in every sport at the highest level.

Did these past skaters continue their careers at a lower level, or has their passion for figure skating been extinguished for good? Being dismissed because of an injury is always sad, but one can imagine there have been many dismissals for lack of discipline/motivation/progress the skaters rather not speak about. And then we will get the inevitable 'interviews' with disputable hosts and bloggers to cast shade on Khrustalniy.

But lets not deny this, #TeamTutberidzeForProgress has a challenge ahead of them in keeping all of their current seniors motivated to work hard to stay at the very top as the girls and boys grow into young adults with other interests, whishes and priorities in life. We'll see once Bejing Winter Olympic games have concluded.
