Alina Zagitova

OMG, Alina looked amazing today!!!
I loved her costume, the program, everything. Alina is not even my favorite skater, but having seen her having fun and enjoying herself made me so happy. She’s always been beautiful, but I think since Test Skates she’s been shining more, I don’t know, maybe she changed her makeup (that black smokey eye didn’t do her any favors last season), but she was just stunning. I know many people don’t like her free skate as much as I do, but I’m delighted by it. God job, Alina!

Thanks! Love to read your posts, and those of others in this great fanfest (although not everyone understands what a fanfest is).

Thank you! :thank:

Yes, it seems some posters struggle with the concept of this fan fest as our happy place. That's why it is so nice to have new fans like you join us and add to the positivity! :)

I like this relaxed Alina. The jumps are secure and not rushed and she looks like she's having fun. The score is irrelevant for me. All I care about is that she skated clean and she was having the time of her life. Trolls can roll around all they like but they should know by now it doesnt affect Alina anymore.

And of course the ISU should have a rule that the defending champion should get a bye into the Olympics if they remain at a high level of skating through qualifications.

If they do that, then there's absolutely no need for any special rule. Nobody "deserves" an Olympic spot (and a medal) for their previous achievements; everyone should earn it during the season. Just like Eteri said once: "As soon as you're off the pedestal, you're the same as anyone else".

Of course Alina will fight for her spot on the Olympic team.
We can only hope she will; and when she does, she will actually fight, and not depend on some "rule" or RusFed/IOC goodwill and politicking, I believe.

Jackie Wong tweeted that he loved Alina's costume and that she looked "statuesque" :luv17::laugh: Only in Figure skating.....
I actually agree with him. Somehow Alina looks "tall". She even photographs "tallish".

He also said that he wouldn't be surprised to see her program change as the season progresses. She can move her combo to the bonus section.

Obviously she can tweak the step sequence and improve the spin to get the max levels. I am optimistic for this season!

And we are getting "Bad Guy"! I am THRILLED. I'm so glad Alina didn't let all that stupidity get to her. Part of me always knew she wouldn't. I'm happy that we will get to see this exhibition all season long. I hope she loves skating it and it becomes as iconic to her fans as her other exhibition numbers.

Pleasantly surprised to see how this all turned out in the end.

At least Alina is off to a good start to the new season, which is always a nice morale booster. Will be interesting to see where it will take her, this new found confidence, energy, power and maturity.

She is still the Top Ace in that deck of Four Aces in the hands of #TeamTutberidzeForProgress. Has there ever been a single rink with so many athletes in play, its astounding :-)

Some of the judges gave +3 for the second Lutz. What a shame. That was one of the best Lutzes she has ever landed with the most difficult entrance she has ever had.

Alina surprised all of us with her debut. For me she is the biggest suprise of the season so far.

Alina showing the gifts of her fans on instagram :luv17: beautiful portraits from japanese fans!

Record breaking performance for Alina :) She might not have beaten any TES/PCS records this time, but this programme of hers is definitely her personal record breaking one - Alina looks THE happiest she's ever been and had smiled more than in any of her other programmes combined

I really want to see her enjoy this season! I think she recognizes that podium topping like she has done in the past is going to be significantly harder at some competitions, so I'm excited to see her skate for the sake of skating!
