Jeff's Best Performance | Golden Skate

Jeff's Best Performance

I think my favorite program of his is this season's lp, 'Ararat'. I like how this program showcase his elegant, fluid, lyrical skating style. I like that he is never over dramatic, but always very expressive in his programs

I liked his Samson and Delilah program, and the best performance I remember from him it was from a International Challenge, one of those events the USFSA does. I think it was in late 2003.

My Fav. is his Glen Gould program it's absolutly mezmorizing and it gives me goose bumps every time I see it. I would LOVE to see it clean.

I like most of anything Jeff does, however, those boo boos in almost all of them have got to cease.

In addition to his Glen Gould, I liked his Wagner but that seemed to overwhelm him. I don't think any skater can handle the sensuous music of Wagner'sTristan and Isolde, although I did like S&Ps variation on it. Come to think of it, few opera singers can handle it.

I love it, too. It's really a well thought-out program that you can watch countless times and always find something new. It has a whole range of expressions: soft, delicate, smooth, calm, light, sharp, strong, bittersweet, and deep. I loved the step sequences as well as transitions such as a spiral, inna bauer (spelling?), and the part where he skates on his knee. I also like his general skating style, the way he keeps his arms high, and the use of the head.

What kinds of dances has he practiced off-ice? Does anyone know?

He might have done better at the Canadian Nationals in terms of jumps. But his triple lutz and triple axel are really great in both events. I liked both of the performances, but prefer the newer costume :) (BTW, the commentator in Japan Open is Yuka Sato).

I vote for Nagaygatsi (the Philllip Glass number in 2005). Thoroughly original!

His 3A combo is great as well as lutz!

BTW, the caption of this video at the right-hand corner is kind of funny. It reads "The Developing Baby Face, Jeffrey Buttle" or something. They wanted to make the point that he is SO adorable, but progressing every year in his career :)

Nice spirals (though a bit short). Spins in both directions.

Although, I love everything Jeff has done - my favorite is Nagaygatsi at the 2005 Canadians. He was inspired and the program by David Wilson was brilliant. I loved Ararat this season and Samson and Delilah. I really liked his Glen Gould tribute and hope someday he returns to it. I think he could master the program now and has gained more maturity for the music.

I also love his show programs:

High - James Blunt
Fix You - Coldplay
River - Joni Mitchell
Ava Maria

To name a few....

I think - "Ararat" - his best FP. And Rahmaninov SP. But i love all his programs. And Nagoytsy for me is very-very close to "Ararat".
As for his skating - for me hightlites was - Free skating at Canadian Nationals 2005 and in 2007: Short program at WCH 2005 and at WCh 2007 and at Skate Canada 2006 (before OG). And i was craze after his bronz at OG - "Samson and Dalila" in Torino OG

2005 Worlds SP. Prélude in C Sharp Minor, Op.3, No.2 (Rachmaninoff)

Perfect. Very delicate, sophisticated program. He does very beautiful spiral as a man, with his leg higher than in the other programs of his, I think. I love the classical music and his classy costume.

2006 Canadian Nationals Exhibition Coldplay's Fix You

Love this song! So mellow and soothing. I also love his white T-shirt and blue jeans. Only a real cute guy can wear these as his costume on the ice!

Please do not mention that undeserved Olympic medal he won.

:) That was CoP's fault. Smart athletes use their brains as well. They are not just doing what they told and waiting for the pancake falling from the sky. They do whatever they can to maximize their chances. I am very glad that Jeffrey got this medal. Maybe this would be the highest achievement he could ever get. He got it.

I like Jeffrey's style of skating. Loved his Olympics LP the most. It was not about the jumps, it was about the emotion.

I loved this costume so much which made me love this program more.

I really like that music. His classy costume was very nice and matched well with the colors used in that rink. And it surely was a delightful performance. His attitude was really great, very bright and filled with the joy of performing :)
