2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

So, I don‘t know where to bring this but I was just watching a practice stream by someone who attended the competition. I tuned in to see Aliona finish her runthrough, then she went over to the coaches, looking visibly upset and left the ice shortly after.

Here‘s the person who provided the lifestream. She wrote in her story that Aliona‘s runthrough was very rough and she was upset. I just hope she‘s fine. I‘m really worried right now. :(

Oh no, she must be under a lot of pressure. It's her first serious senior competition and her closest competitors have already won theirs. Not to mention that she is facing Alina, very strong and experienced skater.

Hope it's not an injury or something like that and that everything will get better with time.

The same account just posted that she came back to the ice looking happier, and her jumps were more stable when she started practicing again. Sounds like she was getting too much in her head about the 3A.

Only one successful 3A attempt during this practice (

even if she leaves out the 3A and skates 2 strong programs i'll be happy. she really must be under a lot of pressure- Anna and Sasha have already won their events and she is competing against Alina, Olympic and world champion. i can imagine she is feeling like she is expected to win like the other 2. she is young, but i hope she understands she is only control of what she does on the ice, not her scores, and this can help take some pressure off. wishing her the very best.

I'm a little surprised. Her 3A looked strong in competition, and it's unheard of for a skater to introduce an element and attempt it twice in their first outing. Hopefully it continues to get more consistent because she really needs it to have any chance of competing with the top Russian women and Rika.

Her runthrough should still be on the account. She changed her layout and did only one 3A and fell (jumped 3Lz instead of the second one, I suppose this is what she does when she misses the first one). She also had a heavy step out on almost every element.

It‘s so hard for these girls, I don’t think any of us understands the pressure they‘re facing. And they‘re so young. :(

I‘m just so worried because of her injury last year. I hope it‘s nothing like that... The user reported she came back shortly and finished the rest of her training. She had lots of 3A attempts but landed none cleanly (from what I saw) and looked just very frustrated overall. It’s so sad to see her so stressed out, she‘s an amazing skater even without the 3A! Her skating skills, interpretation and maturity are second to none! This is just a GP event, even if she takes out the 3A entirely it will be no big deal. Gold isn‘t required to make the GPF. And losing to Alina is no shame either! None of her teammates had to compete against her so far.

There are probably issues of jetlag and lack of sleep. And Trusova's practices were Gawd Awful. I was expecting a train wreck, but she pulled it together. Even if she leaves the 3A out, there is very little chance she would not be top 3-so in a way this GP is easier than last week.

maybe they'll ditch the 3Axel in SP on the last minute If she isnt very sure. I remember Kostonaya also cried last year in JGP when she fell in her 2Axel in SP

Dudakov is always there when there is new jumps, or jump issues or anything jump related since he’s the jump specialist. Considering Alena is still new on the 3A its not surprising he’s there

Sergei and Daniel together but without Eteri? I don't remember that before.

Why is it strange? Eteri is probably at home training the other skaters. I suppose she went with Anna because she could visit her daughter on the way. But she can’t go with everyone, the others at home need a coach too.

I think a lot of us assumed that Eteri would go to France because Alina is there.

Alina Zagitova's new show number.

It is dedicated to, a tribute to, their dance/ballet trainer, Mrs. Shalashova, Daniil Gleikh's mother, who died a months ago. Daniil says it is an honor for him that Alina accepted his idea to capture Mrs. Shalashova's life - she passed away, but she left something behind.

Alina has her heart in the right place, and is honoured too to be able to present this memorial.
Well done to Daniil Markovich to try to capture the life of his mother in skating, creating a living memory that will last, because of its inspiration, its creator and its performer.
We can probably expect lots of ballet moves, turns and jumps from Alina, she is the leader of the Four Aces and has had the most ballet inspired routines in her career.
