2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Isn't the time violation received if the skater takes longer than 30s after their name is called to start? Alina was in the position before 30s.... I don't understand so many things tonight. And receiving 3Lze? :drama:
Usually it's due to finishing after 2:50. Maybe the program is exactly 2:50 and she must finish on time not to get violation? Could also have been too early (it seemed that she finished while the music was playing?) but most programs are cut way above 2:40 so I don't think she finished sooner than 2:30.

Ok so I checked and her program is almost exactly 2:50. So probably was 1-2 secs too late.

Really? I just don't believe that. Daniil and Eteri especially would never make a mistake like that.

I honestly don't have the power to read through the rules and to check how long her music is. But she started on time and finished on time, so there's nothing else left.. I guess?

As we are all frequently reminded:

You can not compare scores across competitions.

It might not be fair if these ladies end up in a tie breaker but that is how it is.

she didn't say anything "bad" about the judges. what she said was true, the judges didn't like her performance, and it showed in the scoring. she is taking responsibility for whatever errors there were, even if she thinks the calls were BS.

I might be wrong but its her first serious senior event and you should not say anything about judging, its a wrong way.

Right. Russian ladies have been dominating the figure skating world for way too long (since 2015), especially Eteri's if we have to be more precise.

EDIT: Vandevska, someone on Alina's FF told me that her SP lasts 2:51 min and the official maximum is 2:50, so she received the time violation deduction.

Oh wow. Okay I suppose.... :scratch2:

Alina's Lz is never plain e! The judges are on a mission this season it seems...

I think they want the competition close
coz Tennel isnt making the GPF, they wanna see if one of the other top RUS ladies may falter to sneak in another

I dont think they will be happy with a 5 RUS + 1 Japanese in GPF

Judging seems to be stricter this year with the number of e, !, and > calls Alena, Anna, Alina, Zhenya, and Liza have received so far between themselves.

The judging of URs got stricter than ever last season. We are seeing the same this season, it looks like.

I don't think anyone has it out for anyone...the tech panel at this event was just very strict, which isn't a bad thing. It was tough on every girl here. Alina and Alena do the most difficult elements here, and you're more likely to UR on those hard elements. It happens.

In general, I think the judges at Skate Canada were more generous to everyone in PCS than they were here.

The thing that doesn't make sense though is that underscoring Alena and Alina doesn't do much. Are they trying to push Mariah/Kaori above them? No way that would work. Rob Alena of her 3A and PCS, and she's still leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else aside from Alina.

They'll just have to accept that GPF will have at least 4, possibly 5 Russian ladies

It never used to be...but have you considered that minor changes happen to technique? Maintaining a true lutz and true flip seems to only get harder for most ladies when they mature.

From the angle the tech panel had, it may have been on a slight inside edge. We don't get the same camera angle that they do.

It happens, but it didn't happen in this competition. At least not the UR on Aliona's 3A nor the edge call on Alina's 3Lutz.

Being strict doesn't mean you will create UR out of the air.

Not everything is a conspiracy theory....overall, these judges scored everyone a little conservatively compared to judges at some other competitions this season. Some events, the judges are very generous. Some events, they are not.

Alina will make GPF, nobody is throwing her under the bus.

If any Russian doesnt make it, it will be Liza, who just isn't as good as the others despite her 3As

not for Kaori coz she wont me making the GPF anyways maybe to make room for others like Bell or Miyahara
You actually has the highest chance to sneak into the GPF aside from Rika and the russians

I can see the slight inside edge on Alina's lutz, but it didn't justify more than a ! from a strict panel. The GOE spread does not make sense to me for that combo
