2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

The idea of Liza having 2 quads + 3A at the age of 23 and after so many competitive seasons is exciting! Really happy she found motivation to keep going despite spending years not being in Russian top 3.

I don't think she is close to get a reliable 4s exactly because the lack of height. I am actually quite surprised at her fast rotation approach instead of a more height approach.

More height needed on that attempt to finish the rotation, but I agree - it looks very close, she should get it soon!

Legend...

(Wait for it!)

ary!!!

Love the Empress! :cheer: This is very exciting. Hope she can get those quads down and take some names!

On social media perhaps. Call me Debbie Downer but until she can do a layout with 2-3 triple axel/quads and at least 1 back-loaded 3-3 or 2-3 triple axels/quads with 1 in the bonus; then the whole learning quads for Tuktamysheva its like seeing the skaters doing the 5-6 jump combinations in practice/warm-up - it looks good on social media but when it comes competition time its pointless.

It's harder to get spring in edge jumps compared to toe jumps. Sasha also struggle with 4S now. More men do fine with 4S though, but both men and women struggle with 4Lo (assuming women too because none actually have attempted it without harness)

Well it depends on what you mean. Physically I think that they all look small and muscular. Personality wise they have all definitely grown up this season :luv17:

I was about to say that Aliona is still tiny...but then I came across this video from 2017 where she's SOOO tiny that Sofia could probably carry her like a teddy bear:

So I guess even though she's still a smol bean, she has grown a lot! ;)

Awww that video is too precious!! Watching old videos is so eye opening because you can really see how much skaters have grown. Even though Alena is still small, you can see that she has grown over the years and the same goes for the rest of the 4A. I love watching old videos/performances they are the best and make me appreciate skaters so much.

Unforturnately I agree with this. Jumps on Instagram is cool but until you can deliver them clean in comp they mean nothing (This is not a bash on Lisa but my opinion on all instagram jumps. Gracie Gold for example is the worst offendor here imo). Hopefully she can use this spring and summer to build up her stamina and come back stronger next year with 1-2 quads 2 3As and 2 3-3 combos in the free (or at least on 3-3 and one backloaded 3+2A seq). Because this is the type of layout she would need to be competitive. (Unless her SS and spins drasticaly improve which I think is less likely)

Tat'yana Navka's "Sleeping Beauty" musical ice spectacle with Alina Zagitova: https://www.1tv.ru/sport/figurnoe-k...shou-spyashaya-krasavica-vypusk-ot-12-01-2020

Seems without geoblock.

And it is a magnificent show, Alina's part is quite small in the greater scope of the story based on the fairytale. But her big solo is nice, as are the paired and dance parts.

On YT (inofficial?): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ih6P_wlLZJw

Hopefully there will be n official YT version with subtitles soon.
Subtitles? Why? This is already in the most common language in figure skating, why anybody would hope for subtitles?

Because this is, as far as I‘m aware, an English speaking forum. And many of us don‘t understand Russian but are fans of the Russian ladies nonetheless. So, go figure.

(And yes, I realise I should have ignored it like everybody else but I couldn‘t help it this time.)
