2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

My friend, with a great regret, I have to tell you a bad news...
We have still ISU sychro championships, RusFed is providing multiple tournaments, including ongoing Zhuk Memorial so the season is not finished, besides the ministerial decision was certainly taken some time before publishing, so they couldn't know about Worlds cancellation.
This is interesting case regarding Stasya and I would love to know 'why'.

Now the 12 year olds, will they skate with wild abandon again, trying to land ultra-si? Yesterday, in the elements, there were 6 girls with triksels and quads ...

Zhilina and Berestovskaya will probably go for their quads, but the others might still not want to risk their chances.

Sofia Dzepka is a real gem! I found her SP to be totally captivating, even with a fall. Definitely my favorite right now from the younger group and I hope she can skate clean in the LP. She currently in 4th but I’m pulling for her to make it onto the podium.

All those girls and boys that participated in "Ice Age, Kids" stand out in their artistry and presentation I thought. Dzepka, Paramonova, Rubtsova, Marasanova, Kulikova, Berestovskaya. Zhilina was still a little wooden, but now she she seems to be more artistic too.

PS. Buyanova Open competition is taking place also. A huge lot of kids participate, and none of them really bad.

Here's a recent outing of her FS. She's incredible! Judging from her scores, I believe the judges love her too.

Veronika Zhilina won Younger Age nationals in the older group, Liza Berestovskaya was second, and Maria Dmitrieva third. Congratulations to all!

Older girls final standings:
https://fsrussia.ru/results/1920/mlvoz2020/CAT004RS.HTM

Veronika Zhilina won, but it was close. With the knowledge that her closest rival berestovskaya fell from the 4T, she chose not to do a 4T (she had an ugly fall from a quad during elements) and did only 2A. But the situation has complicated when she unexpectedly fell from 3Lz+3T immediately after it. The rest was clean, so she still won.
Adelia Petrosian did solid free skate after disappointing elements and SP and made huge jump to 9th place overally I would say that her components vere too decent, that was the tax for starting so soon.

Some other girls here performed very well too, esp. Dmitrieva, Berestovskaya, Gorbatscheva and Zakharova.

Wow Sofia Dzepka is soo gooood!!! Those skating skills! That maturity! I see a future star in her!

I really liked Sofia Titova too! She carries a lot of speed and power in her skating and she doesn't make any second of her program boring, also those spins are gorgeous!

Lyubov Rubtsova also has a certain star quality. I didn't really like her on Ice Age Kids because her programs were all very pantomime-y, but I rather enjoyed watching her today!

Wow these 10-11 year olds are SO GOOD!! It's because of competitions like these that I cannot fathom how people think that Russian girls are no longer going to be the top of the field in a few years.

Also, I was really impressed by Elizaveta Kulikova in the older girls category. She's one of the younger ones there I believe and the fact that she could skate clean programs (with URs, but still everything was landed) makes me optimistic for her future. She's got really great subtle artistry that is so rare to see nowadays.

I've tried to score Trusova's runthrough program https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqqqOgCzHvo

The only thing I deducted was:

4T+Eu+3S which I gave -1
4T< which I gave -2

Everything else got +2 in GOE. A bit generous perhaps as she often loses levels in spins and steps, but anyways...

Total TES 102.01

If we give her a PCS of 69-70 that should make a final score around 171-172 points. Which would have been a new world record.

Would that have been enough for a Gold at Worlds? We will never know...

I would mention two names from the younger category apart from those who were already mentioned. I hope I'm writing their names well.

Sofia Shifrina - girl from Snow Leopards, she can easily become Panova's top skater soon. Just one observation, she looks even more tiny than Anna Shcherbakova.

Taisiya Korobitsina - girl from Tatarstan, it was nice to see a girl from a not so renowned team like Sambo, Snow Leopards, CSKA or Mishin's school at such a high place (5th after elements and SP). Let's hope she will do well tomorrow as well.

All this talk in the chat “he/she should move to Eteri’s”.

Those kids should stay right where they are, and FFKKR and their local clubs should give them all the resources needed to become great and be successful.

Spread the wealth so to say.
But alas, that’s not going to be ....

Dmitriyeva held Sankt Peterburg’s honours high today. Otherwise it would be all Moscow.

Tomorrow the younger girls and boys will compete their free programs and we are in for another wonderful and interesting day.

I did not find any of their routines childish at all.
