Alina Zagitova

2015 World Championship bronze medalist Elena Radionova shared her opinion on why Alina Zagitova is in demand in ice shows.

First of all, due to the fact that Alina is an Olympic champion and has all possible titles. Secondly, she added a lot in her skating, she always has complicated and interesting programmes. Thirdly, she is an unreal beauty. She grew up, took shape, looks just gorgeous. I’m saying that as a girl to a girl. Alina is the decoration of any show.

It seems to me that Alina’s success is also due to the fact that she is very sincere and modest. She does not play someone else's role in her life. It is captivating. She is the way she is, does not put on a fake face, she does not have a star fever. People like that she, as they say now, is “true,
” said Radionova.

Elena expressed my thoughts perfectly

Russian FS team doctor, Philipp Shvetsky on Alina (from his interview to FFKR):

- ...We communicate more closely with older athletes. The girls from the group of Eteri Georgievna are still young, and because of their age, they may not be so concerned about the current situation, and besides, they have parents who can explain. But who in a good way "pesters me with questions", and rightly so - Alina Zagitova. We communicate with her more often than with others, from the very beginning of quarantine. She is a real trooper. The real Olympic champion. If she has any questions, she calls, asks, day, night ... It should be so.

- So Alina is training now?

- That's why she calls. And I, as a doctor, would like to note her high consciousness and self-organization. That's the spirit! Therefore, on the example of Alina, I want to tell the rest: if you have questions, do not be shy, call, ask. And most importantly, be healthy.

She’s spot on!

Anna Shcherbakova is likewise engaged.

Good for both girls, to be officially recognised as model athletes :-)

From Alyona's interview:

- How would you characterize in two-three words the other girls from the senior group - Trusova, Shcherbakova, Zagitova?

- Let's start with Sasha. She is unstoppable. Anya is a real intellectual, with a capital 'I'. Alina is stalwart. No matter what happens, they cannot break her. Like in her Survivor ex.

- What did you learn from them?

- ... From Alina I've learned how to control my emotions. There are times when they need to be shown, and there are times when it is better to hide them. And I'm still learning to keep that line.

Hi Alina fans ~
I’ve been lurking here for some time but figured it was only appropriate that my first post was in Alina’s thread.
Cheering for Alina during the Olympic season made me go from being a figure skating “fan” to a “stan” 😂 I’m a bit younger than her so she’s been a great role model for me since then both on and of the ice!

Welcome, any fan of Alina is largely appreciated here

This was one of my best days as a skating fan. Maybe THE best day. I was happy for Alina winning the OG. I know it is her biggest victory and her greatest claim to fame, but I hadn't been on that 'journey' with her yet. The journey you take with the skater you love where you follow everything they do and hold your breath every time they compete.

This victory satisfied like no other. It was such a redemption from the heartbreak of Milan, and the 'omgsheneedstorest!!' Greek chorus. It was exhausting to constantly read about her losing her technique, trending downward, and ultimately being the reason that Russia would lose it's 3rd spot at Worlds because she would surely have another meltdown.....

By the time Worlds rolled around I was halfway to believing all that :( I had gone from hoping she would win Worlds to accepting the foregone conclusion that Rika would win Worlds (shout out to Dave Lease). I accepted that I would be happy just to see her on the podium. Then after the constant - 'does Alina even deserve to go to Worlds?' rhetoric, I was just hoping she skated clean and wasn't the reason Russia lost a spot. :(

To see her come out and KILL it. To skate her absolute best. To give incredible performances. To earn that gold in style. To beat her competitors by more than 10 points. To own that competition. She just slayed. I can't even imagine what it must have meant to her family. I get emotional just thinking about it.

And the silence from her naysayers was glorious. Not even talking about random online FS fans, but the Russian FS community elite, the best of the best, who had been, lets be kind and call it 'ungracious', to her since her Olympic victory. So satisfying..

The fact that it all happened in Japan, the country that had given her so much love, when it seemed Russia just wanted to ignore her, was the fairytale ending.

Even if Alina wins in Beijing, I don't know if it will feel quite as good as this felt. Don't get me wrong, it will be a miracle! But this was just so amazing.

I remember someone posting here congratulating Alina and her fans and jokingly said don't gloat too much. I couldn't even think of gloating because I was so relieved! It was insane. Still the best day ever.

And celebrating online with all of you - it doesn't get any better than that. Thanks for memories :thank:

Best fan fest ever :ghug:

That was a very strong emotionally and feeling wise day. From grande suspense to pure joy. I was in a meeting at the time the final group took the ice. My body was in the room but the mind couldn't focus. By the time that I knew Alina skated, I asked how she did. If I recall correctly lusk8 replied and said she did well. I checked the results. When I saw the score my heart took its place back. I left the meeting with a smile like no other. Bought two boxes of sweets to treat my colleagues, they still probably wondering what happened to me that day.
