2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Also interesting is how the attitude towards Aleksandra changed, including mine. Anger, understanding, acceptance.

She’s already been eradicated from the unofficial Tutberidze VK group. Her fan and support groups might get divided too, when they re-assess their affiliation to Tutberidze’s/Plyushchenko’s over Aleksandra’s as the singular subject of their admiration.

But Aleksandra herself said once: “those who really love me will never leave me” :-)

And her brothers will still want her to tear the competition to shreds.
And now they’ll want to tear to pieces everybody that’s out to hurt their sister themselves;-)

It’s kind of strange to downplay the impact of coaches who bad mouth ex-students (that goes for both of them). It does have a real effect on athletes’ mental health and they are powerless to defend themselves because of the power dynamic being titled in the coach’s favour. Worse yet this happens to literal children. The people trying to crush their public image are adults. I think any coach who speaks badly of an athlete in public after they leave can not be trusted, especially if they continue to do it. I don’t consider it to be professional at all.

I think I can't add anything new to what has been already said here. I'll put it mildly by saying that I'm kind of sceptical about Pluschenko's approach. Transfers of students and coaches from one school to another are pretty common and I guess a normal part of an athlete's career. I don't mind Sasha changing coaches, apparently she or her parents needed some new strategy and they opted for an alternative. However, I can't stand Pluschenko's many amoral ways to discredit Tutberidze's work in the past couple of years. He could just take up Sasha and Rozanov, start the work and give some general info to the public about his move. It's absolutely disgusting to accuse Eteri for not giving enough attention to her students. If her students get those medals without enough attention, I don't know what it could have been if they had been treated properly.. ;) Also one funny thing I read from all the junk in those media coverings was the article saying that during the Olympic games Eteri neglected her juniors because she spent 1 month of preparing with Alina and Evgenia. How dared she? To focus on her Olympic athletes, who btw won gold and silver?? In this context, how is Pluschenko planning to give Sasha the attention she deserves without leaving Zhillina and everyone else behind?

This is not a problem, this is the solution. Now the wheat is separated from the chaff. A fan who makes his love dependent on a coach is like a friend who makes his friendship dependent on money. Both are better avoided.

It is not uncommon to blame Eteri (but also other people) of two or even more contradicting things or moves

But we'd like to know if this transfer will change Plyushchenko into a real coach.

In an earlier interview, around the time he raised scandal over luring athletes, he loudly declared he is no trainer, doesn't want to be a trainer and never will be a real trainer.

Promises to the contrary have already been made in his first public statement. Heat of the moment, memory loss? There is a difference between trainer and coach though ...

Mr Trusov best keep the contract in hand at all times.

And protect his daughter from the media.

If they go for the yellow pages road, make a reality show out of this, create drama just for the sake of attention, or 'weaponise' Trusova against her former mates and trainers, I am done with them.

Not Aleksandra, who I hope I can still love in new costumes, displaying new images, exploring new ice previously thought unconquerable.

I agree with this. If a fan cheered for Alexandra Trusova only because she was coached by Eteri Tutberidze, that person is a Tutberidze fan, not a Trusova fan.

Similarly, fans who formerly wanted Alexandra to succeed, but now want her to fail just so Tutberidze can score a point on Plushenko -- they were not really fans of the skater in the first place, but of the coach. (Not that there is anything wrong with being the fan of a coach, or of a choreographer, dress designer, ISU judge, etc. -- everybody needs a little love. )

So far, the majority of the 'turncoats' are the ones that hated Sasha's guts, called her a 'robot', blamed her for 'ruining ladies figure skating', etc - as soon as Sasha switched to Plyushenko, she suddenly became the 'brightest star of the Russian fs scene' to these folks :laugh2:

Ah, OK, but I'm just reading here. And that is more than my weak nerves can handle.

I said I wouldn't come back to this thread, but for the last time...

Plushy. Is. A. Real. Coach.

Has he got as much experience as Eteri - no

What was Eteri doing 3 years into her coaching career?

What was Mishin doing?

What was Tarasova?

What was any of these "real" coaches doing at the same stage of their career as Plushy is now?

If Plushy is such a useless person why does everyone expect him to do everything perfectly?! Why is he held to this impossible standard? What do you want from the guy? To have the first student he ever worked with to be the perfect competitor?

Honestly, some people in this thread are ridiculous.

By the way if you bothered to open your eyes while watching the internal Russian competions you would have seen Plushy at many of them.

If you're gonna sling mud at someone maybe get your facts straight at least.

I appreciate the interviews and comments from every random person in the figure skating community, while Sasha says nothing. Smart girl!

What would you expect from her?
That statement from VK account (verified?) presuming to be Aleksandra was denied by Mr Trusov. That fake statement didn't sound bad at all.

All young athletes the stature of Aleksandra, Anna, Alyona need a professional PR agent, or at least a sensible parent moderating their public social media, proof reading anything, checking the DM's for filth. No young adolescent needs the strain of having to deal with what surely must be coming Aleksandra's way for a couple of days now.

When ice reopens and the skaters are out again competing, the focus will shift and excitement will take over once again.

The sooner the better from my part :-)

I am sorry but I am not going to deal with honey bear or plushy worshippers who think that inhaling their idols' farts will get them high.

The few clips with 'coachenko' I've watched reek of shameless self promotion, had a 10 year old girl turned into a mindless string puppet, they are not the kind of clips I'd like to see from a proper coach. But these clips probably aren't meant for the innocent and ignorant masses like me, but for the selected incrowd.

In televised events there will be neutral coverage I hope. And not giving the coaches glaring at each other more air time than the skaters actually competing. Not to mention insidious commenting by some partizan Russian commentators. Because Trusova's transfer will polarise the political columns in figure skating, since Plyushchenko promised Tutberidze hell.

Hopefully it will be Rozanov in charge over Trusova's training and competing. He has proper clean looks, hair cut and jawline.

The thing with those high and to some extent unreal expectations is the direct result from Pluschenko's own PR work. He's claiming to have the best figure skating school, the best conditions, the best blabla for real stars like Sasha. Well, we expect then for him to fulfil those promises. That's the problem with people who speak too much before showing any results..

It's because she went with her coach Rozanov. I'm sure it's because she feels more comfortable training under someone she's familiar with. In this sense, coach and training are more important than club since Rozanov was the main novice tech trainer

That i understand. However, her parents are fully dependant on Rozanov now. They have no idea, is he capable of achieving results alone in an entirely different environment. The system is much more important than a single man. Rozanov was a nobody in the skating world prior to his joining the ranks of Khrustalny. He learned a lot obviously and produced results as a part of the team. Just like many athletes, who started training at the club
Plyushchenko doesn't have that

The same happens with the fans who only defended her when she was in the team and now are saying she's a problem soooo... ;)

First test: have Volkov and Mr Trusov made up over Volkov's denigrating comments on Aleksandra's character and Mr Trusov's unmistaken reaction?

Mr Trusov now has a vested interest in making the transfer a success, and can state his own demands, i.e. no Volkov anywhere near his daughter?

This is the hypocrisy of the forums what I mentioned ;) it doesn't matter if you notice
