Alexandra Trusova switching from Tutberidze to Plushenko

i think Rozanov will be her main coach with Plushenko helping on the side. i also don't think Sasha nor the Zhilina girls would have gone to the academy if Rozanov didn't.

Aleksandra will need all her mental and emotional strength. And proper PR guidance and advice when facing the media for the first time.

Most agree she needs ‘images’ and ‘components’ since her jumping is well above par.

Aleksandra herself said “those who really love me, will never leave me”

Here comes our chance to put ourselves to the test.

I think that leaving Eteri was the right decision for her. It's just IMO. The only data point that I have was my flying to Moscow from Krasnoyarsk with them all. She was the last to board with her puppy and she looked somewhat embarrased. Anna was sitting right behind me and Sasha said passing by: "Oh, you are already here", as if she was surprised. But these were filler words - she just had to acknowledge Anna's presence. I think that Sasha is a natural leader. And with all her quads and all the expectations after she stormed JO what happenned then is described by a recent but already famous Russian saying: "что-то пошло не так" - something went wrong. Had she won the worlds it could have gone differently. But we have no worlds this year.

Actually, I said a few critical words about Zhenya and Orser. But my first reaction was that it was the right decision. Sharing the ice with Olympic champion Alina could be too big a psychological pressure for Zhenya. A similar argument applies here.

Maybe she just needed a change of environment. I have a feeling she'll get much more attention at Plushy's Academy. She also might have a some personality clashes with other skaters and just couldn't handle it anymore. We all know that rinks can be quite catty.

Very likely, three is a crowd, two is tug of war and the world is only big enough for one of my kind ;-)

With the underlying tension of Aleksandra's ambitions in jumping vs the staff's ambition to give her more components value, a win at Worlds would only have postponed the inevitable and force Aleksandra out at later, much more unfortunate, moment in the race towards Beijing 2022. So in essence, a 'now or never' decision was made by the Trusovs. Wether Rozanov's departure, supposedly arranged in secrecy earlier, was the decisive factor, only Aleksandra and her parents and closest confidantes know. Had there been no Rozanov to accept her in his group at Plyushchenko's, the situation would have been dire, after two refusals (out of fear of taking on a load too big to handle) if all the information is to be believed true.

Maybe she just needed a change of environment. I have a feeling she'll get much more attention at Plushy's Academy. She also might have a some personality clashes with other skaters and just couldn't handle it anymore. We all know that rinks can be quite catty.

There is no indication of this in Anna and Alyona, nor in Aleksandra herself, girls growing into adolescents, forming their own opinions and minds, thinking about their future. Yet is is entirely possible, though Aleksandra doesn't seem the kind of person to be bullied, she'll hit back. Yet we don't know how vulnerable she really is, deep inside, there must have been insecurities seeing Anna and Alyona win over her?

But all the A-girls have kept a low profile since the cancellation of Worlds and quarantine started. Working on keeping in shape, studying hard to pass into next grade, etc. At least no nasty, catty, remarks, but also no comforting and supportive postings either (in public at least).

We'll learn more later, after the new FFKKR team rosters have been publicised and ice reopened and the skaters meet again in competitions.

young Sergei leaving eteris group played the huge role in Sasha and Veronika leaving. But he was never going to be the equal of senior Sergei so he made a career move to get paid more and to move up in the coaching ranks. This is how business and sports work.

I don't get your point about what Sasha said about Anna. It's a puzzling comment. She saying Anna is a goodie goodie for being there already?

I think to get away from Anna and Aliona and the stress of dealing with them every day in practice played a role in this decision as well as young Sergei leaving for plushenkos. But everything was going great for Sasha she dominated the Juniors was the best Junior skater ever in any discipline won her first two grand prix events was on the upswing a huge star in the making then took bronze at Grand Prix final and wanted to leave. Hmmm. And it will be interesting to see how much her scores drop without the Eteri bounce.

wise words spoken beyond her years. she is obviously very grateful for those who have invested in her. i hope Sasha and her previous coaches continue a friendly relationship into the future with no hard feelings.

This was such a nice instagram post. She's so mature. It's exactly the statement she should have made. She's been handling this so well.
I also love how google translated "sambo 70" to "samsung 70"

I‘m not sure whether I should laugh or cry at the “I‘m sure there will be an opportunity to give my great coach more than one bouquet of her favorite flowers“. I‘m sorry but... what a legend. :laugh2:

No, seriously, this was a great response. Mature, straight to the point, expressing her gratitude for the work... well done, Sasha. I‘m proud of her. Hopefully she‘ll reach all her goals and have a good season. :)

Hmm... I’m not sure she wrote it, it doesn’t sound anything like her, at least from my perspective of hearing her speak in russian. Probably the parents wrote the message, which would be the right thing to do. The backhanded shade about flowers kind of rubs me the wrong way though. :( As if any of it if is about the flowers at all, flowers don’t matter as much as a personal “Thank you and goodbye”.

Transfer window closed, papers signed and handed in, approval only a formality.

Yeah, there is a mild sting in that particular phrase, obviously written by an adult. Aleksandra this mischievous and planning on smothering EG in flowers ;-)
But Aleksandra will do as she promised and bring the flowers. It will probably be a very private and emotional moment, but also an opportunity to emotionally reconcile, to find closure. Because unlike earlier departures, sometimes with scandal instead of flowers, Aleksandra is only at the start of her senior career. I doubt that a purified Eteri Georgiyevna will once again hold a grudge about someone who seeks and wants to improve herself?

And this posting sets her off into the new season in good standing.

If that's supposed to be shade, I don't think her parents wrote it. Or they did and had no idea about the flower drama. It just seems weird that her parents would want to start drama. Maybe Plushenko wrote it  /s

Err... the one thing I recall from the Medvedeva-Tutberidze stouch two years ago was that The Flowers Matter Oh Yes.

As a fan of floriography, I am dying to know which flowers....

Well, they got to witness all the flower gates themselves every time they happened...

Anyway, maybe it wasn‘t even shade, maybe she was just trying to do everything right, to clarify right now that she’s thankful and that Eteri would get her flowers before there‘s drama from the fans and/or Eteri herself again. I don‘t know how to look at it, actually. If it‘s shade, it‘s funny, in an ironic kind of way. If it isn‘t - and given that Sasha doesn’t seem like the kind of person to throw shade - and we‘re actually seeing a child being intimidated into writing this to avoid the media retaliation by her former coach... then it‘s more sad than anything.

Yeah, some fans are really hanging on to that phrase of Eteri.
They do matter as a symbolic gesture, it’s a cultural thing, but it isn’t what’s actually important.

P.s. Red roses, I believe!
