Hot lists aside, Beckham simply is one of the best football players in the world at the moment. The only reason (ok, the *main* reason) why he left "Real Madrid" and moved to the US was, um, let's call it, a 'conflict' between him, the president of the Club and the trainer during last winted. And while any European club after "Madrid" is a step back, Beckham chose to take a step aside.
About his football qualities I've already said. (Objections, anyone?) Suffice it to say that all the fans of "Madrid" I know miss him dearly.
And to close the topic... I remember probably a dozens of quotes of different people (players, coaches, journalists...) saying that Becks is just one of the most humble, kind and hard-working persons they've ever met in their life. Surprised, yeah?

Will he change the "soccer" in the US or he won't, this is a good question, yes.
