2020 Cup of Russia: Stage I

I don't have a problem with that either .. I'm just saying that russian ladies have to many years of ballet and it's difficult learning the swing of samba when you have ballet in your bones.
I learn ballet when I was young when I go now to a samba class the first thing my teacher says: you had ballet lessons right because you have the posture .. so I think is not easy for them to learn samba
OK, I understand now.

None of the girls stood out to me. They were all bland as vanilla. Hopefully the men will do better because the ladies just about put me back to sleep.

Morning y'all.

I know this is very Englishcentric of me but I wish the Russian feed would put the names in the roman alphabet as well as the cyrilric.
Not that everyone has the time or the bandwidth for this, but it didn't take me too long to teach myself the basics of Cyrilic. I don't speak any Russian, but I can read names and figure out competition schedules, which really helps!

The score doesn't *really* matter since there's not much competition here, and I'm sure she and her team know it's generous...but that's VERY generous.
I was thinking the same .. next to even far from the best form .. zhenya could medal here and get the points for national

I think the judges didn't mark the Lo<. At least the commentators said so. And yeah, it's very generous indeed.

And also there is some sort of bonus marked at the score sheet.
The landing was shaky but actually I don't think it was UR

I think it takes a special kind of skater to get you to feel a lot in a short program. There is a lot to do and not a lot of time. I see short programs as more about survival. Get the elements done. If I feel nothing about a skater in the their LP I'm more judgy.
I guess I'm a harsh critic, I want feelings and emotions even if they may be limited somewhat by the elements. And I just didn't feel anything from her FS at the test skates... (I terribly miss the slinking emoji)

It was interesting to see Anna S watching her slowmo, she didn’t look happy with both jumps in the combo. Was the Lz cheated as well?Totally over scored but she should be in first.

I’d have Frolova ahead of Maia. I enjoyed Talalaykina, I like her style it’s light and cheery and happy. Molchanovav was a nice surprise.

Was it not a very small field for ladies?

Hmm, I thought it definitely looked underrotated on the replay.

Side note about Anna's jumps: people talk about her having small jumps...which with other skaters I see most of all on the 2A. Anna's 2A always looks pretty good to me though.

It's so nice that competitions are back, finally! I really enjoyed Anna F and Maia's skates👏. This is my least favourite program of Anna S, I don't like the funeral mood in it. But her elegance is unmatched:love:.

Yeah.. It would be a good skill to have I know.
Part of the issue is my LD. I took french for years and years at school. Long after I didn't have to because I really, really wanted to be fluent but it's a huge struggle. I still see letters backward sometimes and was always told other languages would be an issue.
I'll just try and memorize the names. I have a pretty good memory like most dyslexics. It's how I spell. I can't do phonetics.
