Alina Zagitova

Ilya Averbukh about Alina in Ice Age -

I am happy that Alina is in our project. I believe that each of us should support her as much as possible, because this is a completely new environment. Maybe from the philistine side it seems that anyone can take a microphone and talk. This is not true.

Alina learns from episode to episode. She sets herself tasks and treats this very professionally. She stays after filming, getting ready for filming. We are all together, one team. I think that for her understanding, for her attitude, it is very great.

The most important thing is that the world around you is kind and open. I do not understand this self-affirmation of people in some kind of negative. Alina is an Olympic champion, Alina is a great athlete. Really great, big, big champion.

She goes further, develops, tries everything new, and it's great. Let's support her. For many children, they watch and understand: "First I will be a champion, and then work on television." This is also an important story that there is a great future. This is the bridge. Please respect every working, creative person, - said Averbukh.

side note: Alina wears funny shoes when she’s inside Sambo :D
those are warm up booties, worn by dancers to help speed up the warmup process and even it out between feet and ankles
What an incredible fan! It’s probably really expensive!
it's not the first time he does that - in 2018 he went to Novogorsk to deliver the bouquet

Who is this "he"????
I hope this is not some sort of stalkerish thing.
The "Alina Zagitova Protection Squad" stands at the ready - just in case.

I'd love to see her get a giant owl-ina again.
Hopefully, if nothing untoward, like the health regulator closing all sport venues, happens, we'll be able to see that soon:

"On November 6-7, the CSKA Arena will host the Figure Skating Lovers Festival - one of the brightest and most spectacular events of this fall with the participation of the best Moscow figure skating schools.

The festival will host the first stage of the Moscow City Cup and the competition among adult amateurs "MozerTeam". The culmination of the festival will be an unforgettable gala evening, with world figure skating stars performing for the guests of the event: Alina Zagitova, Artur Danielyan, Javier Fernandez, Tiffany Zagorski - Jonathan Gureiro, Victoria Sinitsina - Nikita Katsalapov, Tatiana Volosozhar - Maxim Trankov."

Hahah, I’d say Alina was a disruptor, like Elon? ISU literally changed scoring system because of her!
All I know about Elon Musk is he is a guy with a lot of money.
And didn't he send something into space just recently?

I'm still glad they changed the "backloading bonus".
Because Alina will stand as the only senior skater to do a fully backloaded long program.

Off on a tangent....
I loved the way "journalists" like a certain Christine Brennan tried to insinuate the bonus was some sort of "all of nothing deal".
Not actually saying it, but inferring that you had to fully backload to get the bonus and Alina was gaining some monstrous scoring advantage from it.
When in fact, a fully backload program was worth just a couple of more points than an almost backloaded program.
And as we found out at 2018 Worlds.... There were definite risks involved in backloading everything.

What won the 2018 Olympics for Alina?
Her having the "balls" to attempt the 3Lz-3Lo late in the program, after aborting the first attempt.
Courage and grace under pressure. If Alina had fallen on that combo, maybe it would have knocked her off the medal stand entirely.
