Trusova: " In 2010, my grandfather said that I would become an Olympic champion. Was he joking in vain? - I don't understand humour "
Coming November, the first official biography of the Russian figure skater Aleksandra Trusova will go on sale. The bronze medalist of the European Championship, the bronze medalist of the Grand Prix finals, the silver medalist and the bronze medalist of the Russian Championship remembered how during the 2010 Olympic Games she set herself the goal of becoming an Olympic champion in the future.
The publishing house "Bombora" has shared with Sport24 quotes from this biography.
“The turning point happened during the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Our family watched the broadcasts of competitions in all kinds of sports, but figure skating took the pride of place. Still would - after all, a child figure skater is growing!
The competition schedule was written out on a separate sheet of paper, and there were reminders on the phones of mom and dad. Both grandparents and friends of our parents came to cheer our team on. Those Games were not the best for our skaters. Only two medals: silver and bronze: Yevgeniy Plushchenko and the dance couple of Oksana Domnina and Maksim Shabalin. But in the women's singles Russia was left completely without awards. What fan would like it when his country loses and other people's flags are hoisted over the pedestal? Dad got frustrated and switched the TV to another channel: “Eh! Our singles flew by! "
Grandpa decided to defuse the situation: " Yes, wait! Our Sasha hasn't grown up yet! She will grow up and become a champion! " Of course it was a joke. But grandfather was joking in vain - I did not understand the humour and took everything at face value.
The next day, in class, I approached Olga Mikhailovna with the news that I wanted to become an Olympic champion, to stand on a pedestal so that the Russian flag would be hoisted over me, and dad and grandfather were proud that the country had not “flown out”. Olga Mikhailovna listened to me attentively and said something like: “A very good dream! And it will definitely come true if you work hard! " I immediately felt like wings grew on me, and I ran to training. In order to become the best in the group, back then in Ryazan - and from there it is not far to the Olympics. "
В ноябре в продажу поступит первая официальная биография российской фигуристки Александры Трусовой.

“I cannot say I am fearless and desperate. This is not true! I am afraid of a lot of things: flying in airplanes, riding extreme rides in amusement parks.
I'm not afraid to skate and fall on the ice. Because everything there depends only on you. I feel every muscle in my body, I know what to do. And with attractions and rides or airplanes - little depends on you. What if the tower breaks down or the plane is faulty? And you can't run away anywhere, and the ability to fall on the ice will definitely not come in handy"

Early debut in sports
Vyacheslav Trusov, Sasha's father:
“Already at two or three years it became clear that our child should be sent to sports. Otherwise, without the discharge of this energy and perseverance for peaceful purposes, in ordinary life it could be very difficult for us with her. Of course, then she was very small and would not have been taken in by any sports section. I worked with my daughter myself: we ran crosses, I taught her to push up from the floor and took her to the gym for training, where Sasha quickly learned to climb a rope and hang from the Swedish wall”.
Of course, the attention of both athletes and coaches to this stubborn little one with her pigtail was provided. People told the girl was born for sports, and gave advice on what kind to give. Maybe in artistic gymnastics or martial arts?
They joked that Sasha, due to her character and endurance, will be able to achieve success in any discipline, even in basketball - she will simply turn on the “achieve at all costs” mode, learn to jump higher than everyone else, and this compensates for her small height.
On the dangers of downhill rollerskating
Vyacheslav Trusov:
“She came to the rink in a good mood. Not being capricious, she did what they wanted from her. She repeated it dozens and hundreds of times. She worked for the result - until she got it. When it worked out, Sasha gave herself a tick in her head and moved on.
She had the excitement and interest to do the most difficult thing. The more difficult the task was, the more the child's eyes shone. And most importantly, she was not afraid of anything - she mastered skates with the same fearlessness with which she learned to ride down a steep hill on roller skates in the summer in Abkhazia.
Svetlana Trusova, Sasha's mother:
“The problem was that our house was on a mountain. And the descent to the sea was quite steep. Sasha immediately took this hill for a challenge. Will you be able to overcome your fears and learn how to skate down the slope? And on our very first walk, Sasha, who was still unsteady on her rollers, decided to try her hand. Thank God we managed to catch her. I remember the eyes of the neighbours watching this action from behind the fence. But, it seemed, the child didn't care. And where we almost turned gray with fear, our daughter outwardly remained absolutely cold-blooded. Need to conquer the descent? Let's do it. This is her character from birth. It was useless to argue with Sasha, and to forbid her too. There was nothing to do but to help her."
Lutz and the common cold
Yelena Zotova, author of the book:
“On the first day of competition, the short program was done almost in fog.
For her courage, the support of the audience worked better than antipyretic pills. Sasha was going to the free program not just with the desire to skate, but with the intention of performing the quadruple Lutz. Just because she didn't want to go the easy way.
Even the first coach Olga Shevtsova noticed that this girl has a unique quality - to be as collected as possible at the right moment, discarding everything secondary, and to concentrate on the task. And once again this quality was fully expressed. In Yerevan, Sasha did the impossible. She, despite feeling unwell, inserted a quadruple Lutz into the program and jumped it to positive marks. It was the first ever quadruple Lutz in women's single skating - performed by a girl with a cold at an altitude of a thousand meters above sea level only on willpower, an iron character and a great desire to become the first.
But the final and most important competition of the season - the World Junior Championship - put everything in its place. It was there, in Sofia, that Aleksandra, for the first time in a season, managed to cleanly perform a quad. And not one, but two at once! And different ones!
In addition to the flawless execution of the quadruple Salchow, Aleksandra managed to land the quadruple Toeloop in the same program. And she became the first girl in the world to perform this quad.
Sasha entered her second junior season with a quadruple Lutz in her arsenal. It is difficult to imagine how and at what cost the girl managed to do in six months what men did not manage for twenty years. But be that as it may, this jump was announced in the program for the first stages of the Grand Prix. It remained to perform it in competitions. And perform it without errors, in order to be credited as a new world record and the world's first quad Lutz performed by a woman.
An achievement that left all rivals far behind and took women's figure skating to a new level. After that incredible skating, the name of Aleksandra Trusova was included in the Guinness Book of Records for the world's first performance of a quadruple Toeloop in women's single skating.
It was not in vain! Thousands of hours spent in training, falls, frustrations and tears.
Aleksandra Trusova became the world champion in her age category and entered the history of sports.
'I did what no one believed in'. "
About really overcoming yourself
Olga Shevtsova, the first coach of Trusova:
“I look at Sasha beside me. She's scared too. White face, tightly compressed lips. It seems, too, she is ready to turn around and run away, hide somewhere behind the chairs. Mom Svetlana looks at me and shrugs: “Well, a child does not want - don’t.” And suddenly, in an instant, the girl changes. Sasha's back straightens, her eyes look determined, she clenches her hands into fists and takes a step onto the ice. By herself, without requests or persuasion.
That's how she decided. Later, I more than once observed this metamorphosis, this firm and decisive look in a seemingly such a small and tender girl. Even then it was clear that a real athlete would turn out from this child. She knows how to gather herself, drive her fears into the farthest corner of her subconsciousness and take a step forward."
