Due to misshap with a taxi Sasha and Plushenko were late tto their train and had to spend another 24h in Kazan.
Plushenko decided to take a luxury hotel and spend today walking around the city.
Last time I visited Kazan in 1984. Hope they will find the old city entertaining...

I am happy that Sasha returned this jump after 13 months and this is the best attempt in her entire career.

Hooray for Sasha! I couldn't watch any of it live sadly, but caught up this morning

with the quad Lutz and Sal, then 
at the 4T fall and then back to 
with the 4T-euler-3S!
I really like this program, I think the powerful music pieces chosen really suit Sasha
I wonder if she'll get a new costume...the current one fits the program well, but a new one would be fun to see!

I wonder that too, especially since in previous interviews she stated that a new costume was in the making.
The current dress is kinda nice, but I don't really dig it, the color fits the program but I don't like the fabric, for some reason it seems too busy and cheap to me - but that's just my personal taste, the thing that bugs me the most is that it's a GoT recycled costume, I don't think it does Sasha and her team justice to go with that dress for much longer. Maybe they'll reveal a new costume for Rostelecom, or RusNats
Regarding her FS, I feel very lonely out here but I really liked the hip shimmy xD and I missed it yesterday. I understand how some people might find it vulgar or inappropriate, but to me it was a playful move that hinted a bit of characterization for Sasha's evil fate of love persona.
Also ever since test skates I found myself wishing for her to smile during the whole step sequence - not a princess-y smile, but more of a dark mischievous grin, to embody the evil fate rejoicing of Romeo and Juliet' tragic fate. That would be a challenge for Sasha to interpret that but I think it would be really cool and could really boost her artistry. But maybe I'm putting too much thought and fondness for antiheroes into this x')
What are your thoughts on that ?

As for the dress, I was surprised, too, but Sasha had said in the 2nd Cup interview she really liked it and hardly ever wore it so maybe she just wants to enjoy it a little bit longer. I actually like the dress and I think it suits this program way better than GoT. And Sasha feeling good in her costume is probably the most important thing here.
On the other hand, I kind of entertain the idea that it is Daenaery's ghost reincarnated as an evil fate of love glooming over the R&J ..

Apparently Plushy booked some kind of presidential suite for Sasha in the hotel for the extra night they had to stay in Kazan

Sasha removed 3 Lz-3Lo in the short program last year for the same reason of instability. There is no good reason to do the same in FP. Repeating two 3T instead of two 3Lz in a 3 or 4 quads program will reduce its base quite a bit. But it seems to me that keeping -3Lo is a matter of reputation for Sasha. IMO

Trusova received 248.63 for the sum of both program, which is a world record. Her free program is jam-packed with difficult technical components and she can afford to make a few mistakes even though she said that it is generally unacceptable to fall twice. Trusova cleanly landed the first two quads but fell on 4T+3T because of a lack of concentration. It should still be considered a great success as she landed another quad toe loop in the second half.

But I think that was the old layout and they changed it to
4S

And she ended up doing 4T+1Eu+3S instead of the 3F+1Eu+3S because of the fall on the 4T that had to be 4T+3T. It seems she changed the order of the 5th and 6th passes too.
Which is quite impressive and courageous.

Nope, before the competition she already said she would do 4 quads this week, and I also read that she said in the sheet it was written 3 quads because you gave your content really early. That’s why that second quad was planned. The only change was the last lutz. After she missed the +3T in the first quad toe, she added the triple toe after the last lutz, which was planned as a solo jump normally.
But in the same way trying and potentially mastering the more difficult trick would help her reputation?
I just a little disappointed that such a brave and unorthodox combo was adopted by one skater only.
