Mushrooms represent overscoring and apparently this is well-known, even by out-of-touch judges. I think it might make Sasha look bad, especially if said judges think it was her idea.

I wouldn't read into that. Kostornaia was working on her new LP with Lakernik around, and some were taking it as a sign that Worlds will happen.

She is in. If Sasha had to skate to make the world team you know she would be preparing for the Russian cup final. But that's not the case because she's on the world's team even if it's not official yet.

I don't know why the federation did not just name Sasha to worlds after nationals and before the team event. Now the goal is worlds and sasha will have a lot of time to heal up prepare for this huge championship.

As far as I've heard, the Russian Figure Skating Fed didn't want to do the usual thing because they only have 2 spots for men and didn't want to name Makar automatically, so in the interest of fairness they didn't name a lady, pairs or ice dance couple for the second spot either.

Except, full offense to the Russian Figure Skating Fed when have they ever done anything fair? And they could have got around it by simply explaining that the men have only two World spots so the selection process is different.

I imagine some other ladies might not have dealt as well with the uncertainty and it would have really messed up their preparations.

I don't know why the federation does the things they do and plays the games they do I don't wanna figure it out I will give me a headache. In my opinion she was always going to go to worlds. If Sasha medals at worlds it gives him a Head Start on Beijing.

As far as the fed not wanna name the two men so that it won a named the 2 women OK. I do not think sasha was ever in jeopardy of being kept off worlds. She was really good at nationals and we can't forget that.

Whatever happens next season in the Olympic season remains to be seen. But sasha as a chance to make noise now. Rest up practice get ready for worlds.

I have to work on my positive thinking to be honest...I used to think I was an optimistic person, but now I'm not so sure

Interestingly enough according to the English translation Sasha didn't know about the bananas after all. They were cute though!

Sorry for the buzzkill. Gifts for skaters are not allowed at this Worlds, whether handed or thrown on ice, per covid protocols.

NGL, I don't really consider T Tarasova's seal of approval very highly. In fact my first reaction to hearing she approves of anything is to wonder if something is wrong with it.

In all seriousness though, does her seal of approval even mean anything? The again she is on that infamous Coaches Council, if things come down to the wire next season with the selection of the Olympic team I guess having her in Sasha's corner is good (Although I really hope Sasha can make the team on her own merits rather than having to get support from a person like T Tarasova).

Personally, I don't really like TAT, but it is still an institution and her voice carries weight. So I am happy when her vote is for and not against Sasha & Team.
That being said, since Sasha's transition, virtually everyone who feels called has expressed disapproval, sarcastic, arrogant or simply hateful about the work and the results of Sasha and her team. Therefore, I am ALWAYS happy to read benevolent comments.
