She's done such good work with this SP over the season. A pity about the missed combo, but there's still the free to come - may she have that gorgeous clean free that has been eluding her for a while!
 
I 'm very disappointed and sad. She will go for 5 quads, And? She couldn't do a 3-3 combo today, pressure will be higher in FS. I don't want to watch this new disaster as it happened in Rostelecom 2020. This time the coach is prohibited from hugging the skater and there aren't ice creams.
 
What Sasha needs in the free skate is to hit the 1st quad. It's hard to believe her placement after the SP. She can make up 5 to 10 spots easily with an excellent free skate.
I mean 160 points is doable for her in the free. Sasha was so good and so solid at nationals where was that SP?.

All she needed at worlds was mid to upper 70s in the SP. 64 points or whatever it was it's going to be hard to overcome. Sasha needs a good free skate and to hit that 1st quad.
 
She should not go for 5 quads in the FS now, because her mentality is not strong enough to handle all the enormous pressure from them, otherwise the final result will be very very tragic and devastating for her. I don't know whether Plushenko can persuade her to give up their original plan. A SP without 3A already made her look quite moody.

I did a quick analysis of the top 12 ladies. The table above shows their actual SP scores at World 2021, and their personal FS best scores at ISU competitions (nationals don't count). Some of the skaters who are really new and whose combined scores would be in the low 200s or below are not included, as they can't realistically challenge for a medal. So it may look like Sasha has to make up for a lot of ground, but really 2 quads would be enough for her to place in the top-4. If she fully rotates and lands 3 quads she is virtually guaranteed to be on the podium. If she lands 4 quads she is nearly guaranteed to win gold. With 5 landed quads she would have that gold medal in the bag. So with that information in hand, I hope team Plushy will devise the best strategy for her free skate.

That's why they should have gone with a stable SP program like at nationals where she could score in the mid to upper seventies. If she scored say 75 points today and landed 3 quads in the free skate the podium would be there maybe even gold. It's not the points Sasha has to make up. How does she pick up a broken confidence? Landing that 1st quad is key if she does I expect her to land two more at least. I think she could have played it safe and gotten mid 70s today.

So I was trying to get back to sleep but couldn't and visualised Sasha not only making her 5 quads, but also doing a 3A....

Ridiculousness of that aside...how would that score? If she was actually clean could that win?
