Central Asia is closer to East Europe and West Asia than East Asia (which is where the majority of Asian skaters are training, if not Canada or the US), so unsurprising to see many Eastern European names, and Israelis. Not to mention, a lot of the skaters are going to be busy with the senior GPs at this time of the year, so a lot of the major names will already be done their CS events by then (or schedule them later in the year). Many of the names on the lists also don't seem to have senior GP assignments (but maybe my memory is faulty there). And several big East Asian names are already appearing in Asian Open, which is only a bit before this event.

I'm in love with Yu-Hsiang. He has great air position and solid skating skills and posture, and he's just 14. I really hope we get to see him at 4CC next season, and that he can go to Worlds as well eventually.

I probably heard about the boy being good but was not paying much attention to the Jr. men's side in Taiwan. Yu-Hsiang's skating at JGP was a nice surprise. He'll have another JGP competition next week. The good news is that he just cleared the JWC technical minimum with his debut in the very first JGP/international competition.
Shaidorov actually won a medal!!!
Is he another home-trained skater? The bio lists Yuka Sato (she coaches in Michigan, USA), but rink is in Taiwan.

Nice observation! Yes, another home-trained skater. Yu-Hsiang's main coach is actually Wun-chang (Vincent) Shih. Wun-chang represented Taiwan/CT during 2009~2012 (ISU-bio) in men's skating, and he was coached by...Nobuo Sato and Kumiko Sato (yes, he was training in Japan). So it looks like now Wun-chang is coaching locally, and he sends his students to train in Japan (with Sato sensei) & US (in Detroit) regularly. This explains why Yu-Hsiang is having Yuka Sato as one of his coaches.
It's quite nice to see the recently retired skaters like Wun-chang, or Chih-I (Tsao, not formally retired yet) devoting to coaching locally. I'll be look forward to their students in the up-coming National Championship (to be held in mid-Nov.)

I liked both and was sad that Shaidorov didn’t compete in Linz. But iirc he gets a challenger assignment.Two promising juniors, Mikhail Shaidorov of Kazakhstan, and Yu-Hsiang Li of Taiwan, did very well at JGP Gdansk today.

I guess her scores at Nebelhorn were at least enough for 4CC.
Girl has potential. With better training she can improve the rotation of her jumps. She's already able to jump all triples without falls or step-outs.
It's a bit sad that there won't be any other Asian country than the big 3 at olys (while in 2018 there were 4 countries). I partly blame covid for this.
I hope at least that there will be some countries at worlds.

No. She doesn't even have the minimums for 4CC. According to her ISU bio personal bests, her personal best technical scores are:
21.52 and 45.63. She's missing the SP by a couple of points for 4CC (it's 23), but she has the 4CC minimums for FP. It's 30 and 51 for Worlds.

Tara Prasad has both of the Four Continents minimums.
-- She exceeded the SP minimum of 23.0 at Cranberry Cup International (but not at Nebelhorn).
-- She exceeded the FS minimum of 40.0 at Nebelhorn and also at U.S. Classic.
Her Cranberry SP TES = 25.09.
-- She exceeded the FS minimum of 40.0 at Nebelhorn and also at U.S. Classic.
Her Nebelhorn FS TES = 45.63.
Tara does not have either of the Worlds minimums.
ISU tech minimums do not need to be earned at international competitions where it is possible to earn ISU SBs and ISU PBs.
Scores from internationals like Cranberry Cup do count toward ISU tech minimums.
