Central Asia is closer to East Europe and West Asia than East Asia (which is where the majority of Asian skaters are training, if not Canada or the US), so unsurprising to see many Eastern European names, and Israelis. Not to mention, a lot of the skaters are going to be busy with the senior GPs at this time of the year, so a lot of the major names will already be done their CS events by then (or schedule them later in the year). Many of the names on the lists also don't seem to have senior GP assignments (but maybe my memory is faulty there). And several big East Asian names are already appearing in Asian Open, which is only a bit before this event. Why so few Asian entries?
It should be easier for them to go at this competition than to a competition in Europe.
