But then, they wouldn't be using nationals of the previous season, and worlds of the previous season for the primary tier of BoW....
USFS is not using 2021 Nationals for the primary tier of BOW for 2022 Olympic selection.
(USFS also did not include the previous year's Nats in the primary tier of BOW for 2018 Olympic selection or 2014 Olympic selection.)
This post reminded me that when Bradie won Nationals and went to the Olympics... she was an almost complete unknown at this time in the season. ...
We shouldn't discount the possibility that there is someone out there off our radar who is preparing to do just that.
By this point in the 2017-18 season, Bradie already had received attention first as a frontrunner for the third Skate America spot, and then as the official choice of USFS for the third slot. She had won gold at Philadelphia International and bronze at Lombardia.
Compared to someone like Ashley Wagner, Bradie was not well known.
But my opinion is that Bradie was not completely off the radar either.
If anyone at this point in the current Olympic season is analogous to Bradie at this point in the 2017-18 season, I think it would be Audrey Shin.
ETA:
The post that I have quoted from TontoK is from Sep 30.
If it had been from July instead, my reaction to "at this time in the season" would have been stronger agreement.

He made an IG post after he returned stating he had an injured before he left and basically decided to go regardless . I don’t believe he notified the Fed and they made that decision. He was pretty apologetic on his IG post.
We do not actually know whether or not Vincent notified USFS, so the key word here is "believe."
You don't "believe" that he did; I do "believe" that he did; and none of us actually know one way or the other.
(My opinion also is that I don't think that "apologetic" is quite the right word for Vincent's post-Worlds post on Instagram.
I thought his post was more about looking forward and moving forward.
To his credit, his post was absolutely forthright in acknowledging his failure at Worlds.
For the public at large, his post was the first time that we learned of his pre-Worlds injury.)
