2025-26 US Women's Figure Skating

Alysa is a crafty one she may have been holding out on the 3axel until the time is right to psych her competitors out knowing her. It's just to bad she has no more competitions before Nats to try it out. She doesn't need that jump to make the Olympic team so it will be interesting how she plans to attack her programs at Nationals.

wow this is so much farther along than i thought it was, i didn't think she was actually working on it yet!! AND she's doing it out of a spread eagle???? crazy. it looks SO much better than before!!!

I've heard she was working on 4 Lz this summer but there's no video evidence. She had this jump as a junior (it wasn't great though).

I know there's a clip somewhere of Alysa showing some skaters at a workshop a video of a bad 4Lz attempt, but I don't remember exactly when that happened.

ETA: I remember now, it was the vlog from this summer promoting Nationals.

I am not worried about the current activity affecting the US's olympic dream. I don't think Liu needs the triple axel necessarily to win OGM thought it could/would might help With the current regime of skaters she can win with what she has assuming or if Kaori isn't totally perfect. If Alyssa skated clean with 3A and so did Kaori I believeKaori would win. btut a slight slip and Alyssa who is the defending world champ is in for gold. I don't think an American sweep is likely but any of the three hopefuls - most likely Alyssa, Amber and Isabeau any of those 3 on the right day could win a medal but not likely all three. I don't believe the Belgium ladies are much of a threat. Really it is Japan versusthe USA for the women's poidum. I don't think the "Russian" is much of a threat not having competed really internationally. THere are other strong US ladies including Bradie, Sarah et al but I think Amber and Alyssa have made it on body of work alone. Isabeau really has to be considered as she is a world silver medallist, fourth last year and hovering around the podium alway.

I don't know if this has been previously discussed: I am wondering why Skylar Lautowa Peguero moved up to seniors. She was still only 12 when the Nationals qualifier took place last November. She turned 13 on December 20. What was the rush in trying to move up to seniors? Had Skylar competed in juniors again, she would have had an excellent chance to win junior women singles. She won silver in juniors at Nats last year.

I didn"t realize that Skylar's coach is also her mother, Julia Lautowa, the former Russian and later Austrian competitor.

She competed in Junior Sectionals and placed 5th in her Sectional. Top 4 advance to Nationals. So, unless someone withdraws, she didn’t make it to Junior Nationals this season.

It’s such a shame she didn’t qualify. I think USFS should have given her a bye for Nationals because of her silver from last year. I know that’s not how it works, but I wish it was

This always happens i wait for weeks for US Nationals then suddenly it's like holy shit it's Nationals week but with it being an Olympic year and the competition beginning at the start of the month because of the Olympics i feel like i'm not ready for this. 😟

Unrelated. I went back and look at the 2013 and 2014 u.s. figure skating championships in the juvenile, intermediate, novice, junior, and senior women, it brought back wonderful memories of watching.
One finished peaked my interest.
It show polina Edmunds finished 2nd at 2014 nationals
I thought the women could only send two to the Olympics. It was Ashley and Gracie.

I could have sworn it was 2018 .
I thought 2018 was Bradie, Polina, Mirai

I forgot the year Polina won 4cc.

Polina won Gold at 4cc in 2015
This is her FS

No comments since the Ladies FS i think they deserve some love especially the top 5 who skated as well as we've seen from the top US Ladies at Nationals in a long time. In almost any other Olympic cycle Bradie and even Sarah would be going to the Olympics. And right behind them a 16 and 15 year old who hopefully will become the face of Ladies skating in the US in the next four years.
