New PB for Monko & Tkachenko.

Samuelson and Bates into third! They must have messed up, because their technical score is quite lower than the Russians. I really hope they can do better in the other parts of the competition!

Interesting, isn't it? The two Russian teams WAY in front after the CD.

Crone/Poirier scored 32.49 in Croatia for this same CD and dropped almost 5 points here.

Incidentally, you only have to be an INTERNATIONAL judge (as opposed to an ISU judge) to sit on a JGP panel. 47 countries have qualified ISU judges in Singles and Pairs, and 32 in Ice Dancing.

So I don't think it's any coincidence that there are so many judges from former SSRs on these panels.

Samuelson and Bates finished below G&B and M&T at the CD Junior Worlds. G&B are clearly good CD dancers, and M&T are a very talented team. International judges haven't been hesitant to reward S&B when they skate well, and I expect them to move up in the OD and FD. Additionally, C&Z did better than anyone expected them too, so I wouldn't cry "politik" just yet. I haven't seen the CDs, so I would rather not make snap judgements.

Additionally, people who saw it at FSU are saying it's a fair result, and I trust that....

Ladies SP has started:
Good score for Musademba!

Yeah, that's great for Musademba! She must have skated it really well!

I don't know how equivalently senior and junior competitions are judged, but scoring over 50 in a senior SP would be nothing to sneer at!

Not as good for Alexe :(

Vähämaa into second. Aww, she can do better than that. Love her skating, hope she can do better in the FS.

Interesting... Rachael had lower TES than Kristine (granted, very marginally), but higher PCS. I guess Rachael either didn't attempt the 3-3, or had it downgraded.

If it's like her previous GPS, then triple flip-double toe, triple loop and double axel.

Perhaps Rachael got dinged for her flutz.

Hughes behind Vähämaa
