he doesn't really have an excuse not to go..you know what i mean? he can't say my skating is terrible right now so i can't compete, because he is physically able to compete. Mentally, i have no idea what's going on there.

I am sorry that he has to do competitions two in row on top of the already bad condition.

I do feel sorry that he's going through a hard time...but there are so many other worse things in the world.

So true....

 Can't help but think posters want Lambiel to skate and lose Euros. Such an attitude! No good luck to him who must lose. Schaudenfroid (sp).

me too. i was looking at his schedule around the beginning of the month and saw that Nationals and the GPF were back to back. That's just crazy and way too much for any skater.

Dance Tech Specialist: Marie Bowness

Prediction: All LEVEL 4s for V/M and a podium finish.. ;)

Umm, most of the top teams have all level4 elements. The top JGP Dance teams did, too. Unless Bowness is also posting PCS scores, big deal!

OTOH, Todd Sand is the TS for both Men and Ladies. Does that mean Zhang won't get dinged for edges and urs and Asada will? HECK, NO!

Ok here are my pics

1. Yu-Na (Yunie) Kim (KOR)
2. Mao Asada (JPN)
3. Kimmie Meissner (USA)

Men

1. Johnny Weir (USA)
2. Daisuke Takahashi (JPN)
3. Evan Lysacek (USA)/Patrick Chan (CAN)

Ice Dancing -a really tough one!

2. Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir (CAN)
3. Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin (RUS)

Could not agree with you more... Yes, that is "Schadenfreude" and pronounced as "Schaadenfroide".

I'll only venture to predict the following for the ladies:
1 Kim or Asada
2 Kim or Asada
3 Meissner

If Kimmie stays close to Nakano in jump quality, her triple-triple and better PCS will put her above the rest of the ladies. Hughes improved her score by 20.20 points, including two less jump downgrades, over a one week span. Meissner can certainly do the same over a three week span.

Kimmie is a former World Champion and the current US National Champion. She has accomplished more than Nakano and Kostner and she has done so at a younger age.

The technical panels at Kimmie's Grand Prix events were the strictest among the six event series.

Kimmie already has a national championship and with the way Hughes and Czisny are skating, Kimmie can afford to go after this GPF. (I imagine that Caroline is keeping her focus on Nationals and the World Junior Championship. ;))

I don't think anyone wants Lambiel to lose. I don't think anyone wants Lambiel to have a bad skate, either. It was painful to watch his Cup of China performance and to see his dispirited face.

Cutting it close but here are my predictions:

Men:
1. Takahashi
2. Weir
3. Lysacek
4. Lambiel
5. Chan
6. Van derPerren

Ladies:
1. Asada
2. Kim
3. Meissner
4. Zhang
5. Kostner
6. Nakano

Pairs:
1. S/S aka Team Ingo
2. Zhang Squared
3. Pang/Tong
4. Dube/Davison
5. K/S
6. McLaughlin/Brubaker

Dance:
1. Belbin/Agosto
2. Delobel/Schoenfelder
3. Domnina/Shabalin
4. Virtue/Moir
5. K/N
6. P/B

I'm going to change my original predictions

Men:
1. Weir (this feels like Johnny's year!)
2. Takahashi
3. Evan

Ladies
1. Kim
2. Asada (she might regain her best form by WC, but not GPF)
3. Zhang (I can always hope!)

Men:
1. Takahashi
2. Chan
3. Lysacek
4. Weir

Ladies:
1. Asada
2. Kim
3. Zhang
4. Nakano

Johnny doesn't look good in his latest practice clips. Not only falling on the quad but also the other elements don't look so sharp. I worry that despite his insistence that his skating is not going to focus on the quad, he is nevertheless succumbing to pressure and practicing that quad intensively. Hence the "minor foot problem" and maybe also his general confidence level is taking a hit.

Takahashi, on the other hand, looks very sharp and fit in practice. Chan looks good too. Evan will probably not land his quads cleanly. It's sad, but currently I'm predicting Johnny to be off the podium, though I really hope for otherwise!

On the ladies side, Mao Asada looks good in practice, including the 3A, and she's planning a 3F-3T as well as a 3F-3Lp. That's got to be the technically most demanding program every planned/skated by a lady! In fact, it's harder than Patrick Chan's jump content, which contains a 3A and one 3-3. So maybe I should predict Mao to be on the men's podium? :) Her spins are looking good, her presentation better than ever. Plus, most importantly, she looks happy and relaxed and calm in interviews and practice. I think that's just the right frame of mind for her to regain the GPF title.

But at NHK they had all levels 4 with Gorshkov, like technical controller
Maybe Girshkov will be a tech shesh (or controller) at WCh and ECh

At NHK, in the FD, I believe V/M only got a Level 3 on their serpentine lift at the end (were they not holding a position or on an edge long enough?)

What happened to Dostatni this season? :p

Predix for Ladies:
1) Mao
2) YuNa
3) Nakano - edging out Kimmie. Nakano seems to be more consistent with the jumps this season (albeit with one of the ugliest leg wraps in skating!)

Here are my last minute predictions:

Pairs-

Gold- Savchenko/Szowkoly
Silver- Zhang/Zhang
Bronze- McLaughlin/Brubaker

Men-

Gold- Lambiel
Silver- Takahashi
Bronze- Chan

Dance-

Gold- Domnina/Shabalin
Silver- Delobel/Schoenfeldner
Bronze- Virtue/Moir

Ladies-

Gold- Kim
Silver- Asada
Bronze- Nakano

I may not sound original, but there are things you cannot buy..

Stephane interviewed by RAI italian channel , answering in perfect italian, when Takahashi was getting his score.. watching him realize he won.. "SONO CONTENTO, YUHUU" ="I'm HAPPY!!"... is PRICELESS!!

One of the best moments of tonight, together with Caro getting the bronze in front of whole Italy where most of the people do not know figure skating yet, and they remembered her only for falling at the Olympics.

First time in history for an Italian lady to be on the podium of a senior GP final. In Torino.

PRICELESS. A night full of emotions, I had such much fun I really wish I could be there, but Euro Champs in Zagreb are closer so I'll be there.

Who won predictions anyway? I would not expect my favs to be on the podium , but that's the way it is! (expect for Domnina Shabalin : /)

Men:

1. Takahashi
2. Lambiel
3. Weir (or Lysacek)
4. Lysacek (or Weir)
5. Chan
6. Van der Perren

That was my prediction. It was not too off the base. I didn't have time to follow all the disciplines so far this season. So just followed men's.

Well, I've been entering all of our predictions into a table. I give a "gold" vote 3 points, "silver" - 2 points, "bronze" - 1 point, 4th place - 0.5 points, 5th - 0.3, 6th - 0.2. If voter splits their vote, that is reflected as well (for example, if voter says Kim/ Asada for gold, then each girl gets 2.5 points). If voter does not specify all places, it is assumed that in their opinion all other participants have an equal chance for the remaining places (for example, if voter only specified the medalists, then the 3 skaters not mentioned each get 1/3 point).

Here is how GS voted (text colors indicate actual medalists):

1. Takahashi
2. Weir
3. Lambiel
4. Lysacek
5. Chan
6. Van Der Perrin

1. Kim
2. Asada
3. Nakano
4. Meissner
5. Zhang
6. Kostner

1. Zhang & Zhang
2. Savchenko & Szolkowy
3. Pang & Tong
4. Dube & Davison
5. Kawaguchi & Smirnov
6. McLaughlin & Brubaker

1. Domnina & Shabalin
2. Belbin & Agosto
3. Delobel & Schoenfelder
4. Virtue & Moire
5. Kokhlova & Novitsky
6. Pechalat & Bourzat

Well, at least we called the dance right! And were awful close on pairs...
