They can only spilt 2 of 4 disciplines. First going to the men of course, since it’s only 2 days between the individual and the team event. No one can skate 4 times in 6 days. That’s insane.

Lol, what? Our men have ONLY ONE JOB at this games - dont screw team event again. Nobody cares about their individual event since they dont have any chances for medals anyway. So no, there will not be split in men, Kolyada will do both programs, since he is the only one who can stay close to top with some generous PCS giving. And what he will do later in individual event is only his problem.

Sorry to circle back to this topic, but for fun I tried my hand at rescoring the TESs of Anna and Liza's FSs. It's very very close. Anna starts at a 73 BV and gets almost nothing in GOE, between what she loses on the quad and the combo, and what she makes up if you dont hand her +5s for everything she doesnt fall over on. She ends up at around 75. Liza starts way behind at 64 BV, but earns about 11 GOE points. That also gets her to 75. Depending on my mood I could probably squeeze a 2 point gap between them going either way. But considering Liza starts at a significant SP deficit, and that I would give Anna more PCS, Anna still wins this event for me with fairly harsh technical scoring.

I do see Sin/Kat doing both. They are the only ones who can get the score needed after the men. The men will split and Kamila and Sasha will do one each. There is literally no way on earth D/S will be in the team event. Just no way.

I beg you to differ that nobody cares. If anything, I care more about how men and pairs would do, than in how women would do. Men’s hierarchy is much more interesting and there is more to gain in the long run.

What's absolutely not going to happen is SinKats doing both parts of the team event. Honestly, I'm skeptical that Kats' back can hang on for skating twice (Indiv RD and FD), let alone a third time for one of the portions of the team event.

Many strong opinions about the Team selection and in all of them some sense can be found.
Having the men split cause their individual event is so close makes sense, having one men do both since this is their only chance at an Olympic medal anyways and being 8th or 10th in the individual is equally irrelevant, while the dancers, parirs and females can all fight for medals in their individual events, also makes sense.
Having S/K skate both programs makes sense since they are clearly the best team, having them only do one cause of Nikita's shoulder falling off does too. Having them do neither and save themselves for the individual event does as well.

The ladies will be maneuvered according to the other disciplines, in that we can all agree, sadly.
I would HATE to see Kamila do both programs. It's a lose-lose-lose for the 3 girls.
Anna and Sasha get nothing, eventhough they would deserve it so much more than the men or second best ice dance team, they'd top their category if they were allowed to skate. And Kamila will be unnecessary exhausted and psychologically burdened, running the danger of Lipnitskaya 2.0. Lovely.

Running two events in Teams would doom Kamilla's hopes for the individual gold. No chance to skate four good programs.

Of course, there is always the Eteri way!😆

What does Elizaveta and Jonathan being brought in as members of the commission of athletes of the Russian Figure Skating Federation mean to their hopes of still being in consideration for Olympics and Worlds? Or does it not mean anything?

No, that's more like a committee representing the interrest of the athletes within the FFKKR, something like an academic senate on the university.

Kamila could do it if she had a competent coach. She's young, relatively uninjured, and appears to be handling all the pressure admirably so far. A competent coach would just simplify her FS content for the Team Event (she would still easily win). And a competent coach wouldn't try to starve her to death in the weeks before she has to compete at the Olympics (hard to believe, but with the one extra pound she would still easily win).

Competent coach also knows that changes of the layout, incl. it's simplification, can be more dangerous to the stability of performance.

I would hate to see Kamila skate both. It would almost be like they’re trying to sabotage her individual gold to give another a better chance. It wouldn’t surprise me considering the blatant favoritism we’ve been seeing

Hard choice to make with these girls.

Yes let Kolyada do both and bring back the 2018 disaster. Russia lost gold bcz of him remember?

I would agree with you on that point, but Kamila is as strong as a tank. She's not little frail Yulia Lipnitskaya with sketchy/tiny technique. And since Kamila is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much ahead of the rest of the world, and all she needs to do is get a first place in her segments without worrying about a numerical score, she could water down her Team LP or just consider it an official "practice". Kamila only needs to be average to do her part for a Russia Team Gold. It makes sense for her to do both for the sake of the team.

Dear Fellow Posters! I have not been very active lately due to piling jobs and family obligations (I barely have been able to watch the events, not always live) but I just wish you all a remarkable, wonderful, healthy and "skateful" New Year 2022! Thank you for posting when I could not! And to our wonderful Russsian ladies, in particular my lovely Sasha, Anna, Alyona and Zhenya - с новым годом с новым трудoм !!! Be brave, be healthy, be successful and be wise, may your path leads you to where the deepest satisfaction lies and waits for you! Be happy!
