Kamila Valieva: Anti-doping Case and Follow-ups

Just curious, why don’t the powers that be test her in Beijing and see what her current status is? Is it known if she was tested after the team event?

Also:

Not only did the adult person responsible (which is not Kamila, she’s a 15 year old minor) get away with cheating, they also got away with child abuse.

she didn't dope. we will know maybe what Kamilas statement was ir we may not. she has a right to privacy. she spoke under her lawyers. Now this thread will be about bullying a 15 year old.
CAS have not declared that Valieva did not dope. They have only said she can skate until the investigation figures out if she did.

So I guess in Russia you can get away with anything concerning children. In USA there was Nassar gymnastics scandal and hopefully things are going better, but in Russia you can dope children and it's fine. They need to go through similar revolution as in USA.

Why would the Russians wanna go through a revolution?

I get the sense they're fine with their training methods even when it comes to children,
and I don't see the world signalling to them that they should change either 🤷‍♂️ case in point here.

exactly, this is only for the skate but still it will take out pressure from others too in her camp. This is for now a win for Kamila

Having read the CAS decision, my view is given all the the circumstances it was properly considered, reasonable and appropriate as I would hope from judges of this level of seniority and should be respected by all concerned parties.

Furthermore, from the circumstances recorded in the reasoning and the decision making processs that was applied, it would seem unlikely that the competitor concerned will be stripped of medals or results in future as a consequence of this matter.

I'm so confused?! CAS is not known for being sympathetic...Caster Semenya is not allowed to compete because she NATURALLY has higher testosterone. But this is OK?

Figure skating's reputation will be tarnished from this, even worse every Russian skater not just Kamila will be tarnished!

Worst of all Kamila has no doubt been convinced she can keep any medals she wins. But if there's no explanation for TMZ it will be stripped from her in a few months. This will be even worse!
The "worse" part already began when social media got hold of this... There was no way that anyone could win in this situation. It's a lose-lose-lose-lose-lose situation for ALL the Russian women.

Until the matter is properly investigated and resolved, legally, in a 'cover all bases' way, this is probably the most logical interim solution. If she's cleared, it's impossible to add her into the competition after the fact whereas if she's not cleared, it's a simple matter of striking her from the results.

That being said, it does leave a stale taste, since at the core of it all there is a positive test.

Where did you get this idea? The ruling was extremely narrow and not on the merits. It says nothing about how they will rule in the future.

The Chinese, Japanese have different training methods, scolding children is acceptable as long as there is no physical harm. I think western children it is considered abuse even to raise an adult voice

people all over the world will see that a minor was allowed to compete after having a banned substance in her system,
and they will be expected to get on board with it because the lab didn't send the (accurate) results back in time.
not even a word will be mentioned about any of the adults around her, as it wasn't focused on here.

That's gonna be an hard sell I think, let's see if it works. good luck Olympics.
I don’t think the battle is over. I think the investigation has just started. I think labs need to be responsible for providing results in a timely manner. I don’t care if there is COVID-19 in that country. You can still have a lab technician work by himself/herself for a night shift, especially for a few days, to produce critical results in a timely manner. The incompetency of the laboratory is who is to blame for this situation. Also, the timing is suspicious and raises a red flag. But, you can’t produce results from a past event during a current event and then expect to remove the minor from the current competition. If the results were done before Kamila arrived to Beijing, it is much easier to disqualify an athlete and bar them from entering the competition.

I think what also helps Eteri is that she has been around for many Olympic cycles and I’m sure they mentioned the hundreds of cases where they tested negative and this is the first positive case, ever.

Anyways, if she is guilty, the results will be amended accordingly. If she wins, coming in 2nd place and 4th place is still of importance. As the results could be changed after this trial is over, in a year. So, the Japanese, Koreans, Americans and Loena better focus on that fourth spot. Also, on a good note, Elizaveta should start practicing as she will most likely get another shot at a Worlds medal. Maia should also be on standby, in case one of the remaining girls is too exhausted from this ordeal, to compete again.

It is...

I mean I'm already wondering if all the schools in Russia do this? I pray not, but this will be the next thing social media latches onto.

After all, surely the other coaches of Russia should be horrified at this, but it's just crickets.:(

Seems to be headed in that direction, only thing that might stop it would be
enough opposition from the sports world.
