Kamila Valieva: Anti-doping Case and Follow-ups

I have a question. If at the least minute Kamila is finally suspended, misses individual event, but 6 months later we find out it was an error of the lab, an accidental ingestion or anything else that proves that she's innocent. Would you be outraged and feel sorry for her as you are feeling sorry for the other athletes now?

Well yes but so far in situations of the sort that is what the decision is, and people missed out
on moments in their careers even when they didn't act at all in bad faith, just because banned
substances appeared in their system.

I don't have a statistic on lab errors and I don't see it pointed out anywhere that there's a suspicion of the sort here,
but you can't really assume that here without assuming the lab has made a mistake in every single doping case
that will be brought on.

We understand this is a very sensitive matter. Feel free to vent, but do not:
  • make negative comments regarding the minor athlete involved
  • speculate and/or gossip (un-resourced)
  • rant, shout, insult, and/or argue with other posters
Make sure your "facts" you share are credible with links to credible sources. Current media/newspapers are just regurgitating what is already known from the statements provided in the original post of this thread.

There is also a support thread for the athlete.

You name three different countries in your comment, and only resort to Switzerland's neutrality in your defence? All you need to know.
the arbitrators are from US, ITA and SLO. The extreme conspiracy is too much, that's Qanon level.i said this before during the other thread and the speculations were all shut down by this announcement to let her skate. this isn't the final conclusion it's to let her compete.

You do realize that journalists had their lives threatened for just being the first to report on scandal???

highlighted to show exactly why this ruling is so bad. It implies that if a skater with no chance of winning had been in that situation, she would have been sent home.... how is this fair?

My point is that her participation or not has the potential to change the podium and affect all other placements. To me the same treatment should be applied irrespective of scoring potential.

I mean i would be ok if she's finally suspended. It would be fair to other skaters and they will have their "moment of glory". But also i will be outraged if months later there is an evidence that this was mistake. A girl would have lost her only chance to fight for gold at olys for a mistake. That wouldn't be fair to her too, as it wasn't fair for Calalang.

In judged sports sometimes there are mistakes by judges or by the system that in hindsight could've
differentiated between medals, but there are rules that don't allow you to access changing results
after usually not a very long period of time, I think it would kinda feel the same,

such drama queen they the one British journalist was just outnumbered by Russian journalists was not threatened he left out if Shame or outnumbered for heckling a 15 year old. after that day Kamila had bodyguards thank goodness. He had no etiquette

The news came in during the Free Dance press conference. When it came through and they were asked how they felt, there was a moment of dead silence. Hubbell/Donohue huddled for moment whispering before she said, "No Comment." It seemed like everyone was speechless and thrown off. The vibe was totally ruined for all three ice dancers and the conference ended shortly after.

I can't imagine how this will affect all athletes, including ROC.

Let me wake-up my internal lawyer. I think the sport law needs a complete reform. Let there be set proper process requirements, responsibilities, plaintiff/defendant rights and duties, obligatory terms for acts and operation etc. Even the actions like testing the samples needs to get precise deadlines without any covid excuses. And with followinf such standards everyone should be fine becasue there should not appear a situation like this.

No, the journalists from inside the games.biz. They did not heckle anyone. They were just the first to report on the positive test

No one is going into a conspiracy. The only thing that was argued was, if one wanted to do a hit these days, it is not limited within one's border. Did I say Russia was planning one? Please don't manipulate what anyone's said just to fit your own narrative. It's not helpful, and quite frankly ridiculous. Let's just stick to the merit of what has or hasn't been said without adding stuff into them?

this is assumed kamila makes mistakes like at EUROS

You mean Sasha? well either the mistake she's been making all season on the 3A,
but also if she goes for a 2A instead, she would only be in the seventies for both cases if the marks are consistent

well this isn't the final there will be an investigation. The reaction to the verdict of a 15 year old was expected.
