Kamila Valieva: Anti-doping Case and Follow-ups

That's not what Alexey Fedorov is trying to tell you.

The basic logic indicates that what happened is a tragic accident because it makes no sense for the Eteri-team to use this drug even systematically (which was not because in this case there were numerous positive trials) and even more so to use this one-time. Alexey, I'am, samkrut are trying to tell you all this simple thought.

It is sad that national bias nad arrogance, envy of the success of Russian ladies does not allow you to see and realize these simple considerations. Instead of being our allies in defending in defense of common sense you have turned into greedy vultures. THAT is truly sad.
why there is no sense? there is a sense , actually..Those girls are so thin, yet they hav those fake but still quds, 3-3 in secodn part of the program. Thats reality , no "no sense". They need stamina. Thats because russian eteri stans cannot believe it doesnt change anything... His argument is pathetic :Eteri DOESNT need it. lol

Not for testing positive, but for likely winning gold despite all the negative (western) media attention. Seeing how skaters like Medvedeva are happy for her, I don't think that's far off. And reading all the claims that this drug basically does nothing, it doesn't really seem to be considered a big problem.
Eh- Medvedeva is Russian. Her positive reaction was expected.

I personally don’t see this as an east vs west issue. But a right vs wrong. It’s not that complicated imo. Banned substance- you can’t participate. I have sympathy for Kamila, but I don’t agree with this. Makes a mockery of the system. If we banned someone from competing for marijuana- how is this okay?!

I just read about the no medal ceremony at all decision. ("If" kami gets a medal. lol "if" come on, now.) Not even a flower ceremony. This is appallingly unfair to the other ladies. They must all feel completely demoralized and like absolute crap. (And yes it's theoretically unfair to Kamila too, if she is ultimately allowed to retain all medals, which at this point I have little doubt she will). What an absolute train wreck.

I am so curious what the vibe will be from the audience during the women’s SP, especially when the Russians skate.

I can’t imagine the audience would give Kamila the same reception as the team SP. And I’m sure there will be a fair amount of booing/protestations. As I said, I would just turn my back while Valieva skated. This is going to be uuuuugly.
Considering the size of the crowd and its makeup I expect exactly what we got in the other events.

Awkward near silence.

In protest to this ruling, all participating countries should boycott the women’s figure skating venue. All the skaters should protest and not go on the ice in protest. Let the dopers skate the Olympic by themselves. All this ruling does is to teach these young athletes that it’s ok to dope. Shame Shame Shame..this is no laughing matter.

100 % eteri girls dope, dear....

other atheltes couldnt have compete while being suspended when there was investigation... .why she is not while being positive?
because evidently she is not suspended (probably because of her protected status but I'm not such an expert).
The original suspension was lifted as far as I remember and that lift has never been revoked.
I don't know if it's right but I fear there is not clear right here with conflicting needs (not the perfect word but my english is failing me in finding a better one)

As for the 1st quoted line.
If it wasn't an accident of some kind I'm inclined to think that too but it's just my unsupported opinion.
Let's hope a serious investigation will follow
A problem I see is that there is too much talking about Kamila but not enough about the adults around her.

The big problem with medical exempion is that the become so many in the last years that I do not believe them anymore, even if I am well aware that doing that I'm unfair to those who really have a condition that needs special treatmens.
The abuse should be stopped.
So said, when criticizing a rule or a custom is better to stay away from names because is not the singles we are talking about.
So they could got her one, right??
she must be overlooked and her doping now because other have medical exemptions?

The whataboutism in this thread is astounding.

I’m not surprised.

The great irony is that because of this decision Kamila Valieva is about to become the biggest example of whataboutism any time a Russian figure skater, heck, any figure skater, competes.

Any time a Russian skater does quads, people will always wonder if they earned that through training and talent or if they… got some help. And that isn’t fair to those skaters.

I wonder... And I'm just thinking out loud so don't kill me... If at this stage did IOC thinks all 3 Eteri skaters will podium so this no ceremony thing is big "up yours" to them. They lost the CAS ruling, this is the only punishment they can dish out.

However it will backfire horribly if one of the other ladies in the other countries medalled.

That's what I said. The Russians will love her if she wins the Gold medal, even now or maybe especially now. So I don't see how her life has been destroyed like some people say. Yes, the last few days were very hard for her, but now she can compete and I don't believe anything will happen afterwards, they will find a way around it.

I’m still excited to see the women’s event. Maybe I’m being naive and optimistic, but I’m going in being excited to watch skating.
I’m not. They’ve rendered it a joke imo. They won’t even have a medal ceremony if Kamila is on the podium.

Too bad. The three top Russians are fabulous- but honestly- I’m just suspicious of all 3 at this point. That may not be fair- but it’s how I feel. That said- the other 2 have every right to compete since there’s no proof of anything regarding them. I just don’t see this competition in the same way anymore though.

I really hate how this system destroyed this 15 year old girl. Her name will forever be linked to this doping scandal and she will never receive invitations or opportunities to tour and earn money outside of Russia. Meanwhile, after endangering Valieva’s health and ruining her name across the world, Team Tutberidze will discard and replace her with another prodigy. It’s tragic, really.

I misread. Sorry. Read a bit too fast.

I tend to believe they will too. This is Russia.

I can’t see anything other then an ROC sweep barrring meltdowns. So yes, I’m sure the intention was to take that away from ROC
