That's the thing though...this brings up so many doubts and questions. Like a big part of me feels that surely most of the Russian figure skaters can't be doping...but then this happens and I'm not even sure?
Like do all these Russian skaters truly believe it's a conspiracy? Or do they have something to hide themselves?
It's not very pleasant to think about, but it's been on my mind ever since this news came out

Yeah apart from probably having a bunch of future show opportunities with Eteri,
I don't think anyone would wanna cause Russia to lose Olympic Gold medals by saying anything
if they had anything to say. That's not the way to be more popular over there I don't think.

'Serious questions’ raised about Kamila Valieva's ‘grandfather’ excuse
Kamila Valieva's 'grandfather' explanation is a 'long shot,' according to USA's anti-doping chief.
This story mentions the amount of TMZ found in Valieva's system which is apparently 200 times the amount found in an athlete who successfully proved contamination.
Maybe, grandpa can claim that he accidently slipped her a pill or two but that water glass theory isn't going to work for this amount of TMZ.
This dosage is consistent with a full dose taken several days before. Maybe a small mix up in dosing? They gave her a pill one day too late?

From what we know publically, Kamila is very unlikely to win her case. I'm really baffled why someone hasn't intervened and told her to pull out. I'm curious to who is able to talk to her besides her coaching team. People are not going to look kindly on her denying others a medal ceremony knowing she was unlikely to win her case.

Kamila needs to be seperated from Eteri when they get home. The way Eteri has phrased things and her body language makes her seem guilty. The elephant in the room is that Eteri may either have agreed to the drug being given to Kamila or is covering up for who gave it to Kamila while Kamila is oblivious. What if Kamila was manipulated into this cover story as a means of taking attention away from Eteri and her doctor?
The media needs to be careful about spreading rumors about "pill boxes" and Lupron usage. Both are unlikely to be true and it's the sort of thing you can get sued for.

Most democratic countries have quite lenient libel laws ( for good reason) . So, they can be sued but they are unlikely to suffer consequences unless it can be proven that they published something false on purpose.

I was curious about this press-conference anyway, so I took the chance to watch the interview. Though I'm not a native speaker of Japanese, but from Kaori's reaction to that particular question, she hesitated for a very long time, filled in with a long 'mh........' filled pause, before actually offering her opinion. In that case, I wouldn't say that 'yes' should be interpreted as a confirmative 'Yes, she should be allowed' to the question by the journalist.
Another problem to be noted is that, the question was originally in English, and Kaori had to get the translated question in Japanese via the earphone. So we don't really get how the question was translated into Japanese for Kaori to arrive at that 'yes'...
As I said, I'm not a native speaker of Japanese, but I'm quite positive about Kaori's hesitation at the beginning of answering the question, which reflected that she was thinking hard about how to answer that particular question properly.

They can appeal the CAS decision to the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland, and possibly the European Court of Human Rights afterward... but it usually work best when it's a procedural objection and not an objection on the merit.

Kamilla Valieva? Who? Oh yes, wasn't she some sort of athlete who was involved in some sort of dispute over drugs or something?
