Wow, no replies here yet? I'm impressed with the depth of the Canadian field thus far. Even the lower flights have been good. I've actually found Karam/O'Keefe to be standouts in both the FD and the OD this team has a really bright future.

Tessa and Scott won. 209.09 
I remember seeing it live in Quebec City in November, and I think here they just really finished off every movement to make the dance even more expressive... wow... I'm at a loss for words here! hehe

Best I've seen V/M skate the FD this season. Well-deserved win. I really liked Weaver/Poje's FD as well. Huge improvement over the beginning of the season. I thought it was easily the second-best FD if they hadn't had the fall.
I like Hann-McCurdy/Coreno, and think they have tons of talent, but I wasn't a big fan of either their OD or their FD. Both are presented well, but they're very stylized, to the point where it's tough to get a sense of who the couple really are. It's kinda....over-the-top fake at times, which leaves it looking a bit old-fashioned, especially for these two young dancers. I want to see them do something next season where I feel like we're actually getting to see some genuine emotion....
Crone/Poirer did really well with a tango. I'm not a fan of couples doing a tango for the FD, as I think it ends up being a bit flat... too hard often to maintain the necessary intensity, or give it any sense of highs and lows. But this tango was one of the best I've seen, and they handled the difficulty well. Well-deserved 2nd place in the FD.

Congratulations to Tessa and Scott on winning their first Canadian title and best of luck to them at Worlds! 
Although first place wasn't really a surprise to me, I was pleasantly shocked and impressed at how very close the second to fifth-place dance teams were. There was an actual battle taking place for the silver and bronze medals, and that's certainly great to see...especially in ice dance! :agree:
And Hann-McCurdy/Coreno's OD music definitely ranks high on my "pieces of music I never expected to hear at a skating event" list...but in a good way!

I guess it's just me, but I thought V&M's FD wasn't the best I'd seen from them all season. To me, It seemed like they were over-emoting. Also, some parts seemed a bit sloppy (I thought Scott came out of his second twizzle a bit early, and when he does that "opening the umbrella" thing, either he or Tessa misjudged the distance, which made him have to hop to readjust). There was definitely some trouble in the second half of the serpentine lift. I also thought that they were ahead of the music in some parts.
However, I thought if they were experimenting in speed and emotion, Nationals was definitely the place to do it. With the lead they had, like Tracy said, it's a good place to take risks. I just hope they have the program a little more under control at 4CCs and Worlds.

actually, I don't think you get the program at all. As a matter of fact, I think you have been struggling with "understanding" it all season.
First try to get it then you will note that all the above is nitpicking and doesn't carry weight or say much...given that you don't appear to know anything about this program.
What makes you think I've been struggling to understand it all season? And, why is what I'm saying nitpicking? I'm commenting on the actual skating -- not the theme. How does understanding the theme (which I do) have anything to do with the comments I made?
