2022 CS Budapest Trophy: Info and Pre-game Chat

The 2022 Budapest Trophy is the sixth in a series of 10 events of the 2022-23 Figure Skating Challenger Series and is scheduled to take place in Budapest, Hungary, October 13-16, 2022, at the Vasas Jégcentrum. The event will feature three figure skating disciplines (Men, Women, and Ice Dance).

If the requirements specified in the above-mentioned documents are fulfilled, the event will count towards ISU World Standing Points, Minimum Total Technical Score, Challenger Series in Figure Skating Ranking and Prize Money.

The Challenger Series is an International Figure Skating Series, introduced during the 2014-15 season. Through ISU support, the objective is to ensure the proper and consistent organization and conduct of up to 10 International Competitions linked together within the Challenger Series. The Series gives adequate opportunities for many skaters to compete at the international senior level and earn World Standing Points. The Series also increases the opportunity for Officials to officiate at an international level.

To be considered for the Challenger Series, the competition must have at least three disciplines (Men, Women, Pair Skating, Ice Dance) from a minimum of 10 different ISU Members in all disciplines combined.

Kevin withdrew from the LP after falling a few times. I saw a quote from l'Équipe that said "cheville", but didn't say what. I wasn't watching live, but I have heard from two different sources that it did not look good at all.

I hope Kévin does withdraw. He does not need to skate through injury.

ankle injuries can be very long to heal... considering the previous season when he hurt himself and couldn't continue... he has had his share of bad luck

He had a super rough short and then fell at his first 2 jump attempts pretty "easily" it seemed and after the second he did not get up and they stopped filming. It looked like it was something with the wrist but as el henry also mentioned, something with his ankle is the problem.

I went to watch Adam's short... and then ended up watching Kevin's as well... The quad toe fall seemed " normal" the salchow and the axel both looked like he was a bit under rotation and twisted his ankle... however, all of the intricate spins and steps were done "with ease" visually... of course, only Kevin knows how painful it may have been for him... and of course, sometimes, it takes a few minutes for things to swell and hurt...

The reassuring part to me is that he was able to finish and skate beautifully for the rest of the program... so perhaps, and I know this is wishing him the best scenario, it's not an injury that may need him to withdraw from training for many weeks and that perhaps, the LP was not skated to prevent further pain and damage... and to make sure he get enough rest and treatment to skate Budapest.

Honestly though, considering the jumps, one has to wonder how "ready" he is to attempt two quads and a 3axel in a SP...

I wish he would not attempt a quad in the short. He scored quite good at US classic. He should do 3T3T, 3lutz and 3A. His Lutz gets a good GOE.

He skated the FS but didn't finish it. He stopped after the second fall in the FS
