Just some random thoughts on the entries...

Why arent Sergejeva/Glebov not going I love them.
Why is Kaska being sent when Brezina finished ahead of him at nationals and has more than proved himself on the international competitions so far???
Dong/Wu are a promising pair but Li/Xu are still way better that should go instead of them.
Russia finally went with Rubleva/Shefer on dance. Good for them, this will be their last ISU championship.

Maria Sergejeva is too young to go to Worlds (she turned 15 in October). She had to have been 15 by July 1 to qualify for Worlds.

I read the decision of the Czech FSA.The nomination was made before WJC and Kaska was higher in the world rankings at that point.

Czech figure skating federation chose Kaška...I would prefer Březina, but it's true, that 3 big competitions for him in one year could be very dificult to do....Kaška was very good at skate canada last year...

IIRC, it's only in the Grand Prix that skaters have to choose either Junior or Senior. For all other events, they can do both if they choose. In fact, that's what Griazev did in 2004 - he won Juniors World, and was 12th at Senior. Also, Belbin & Agosto did it twice - they were 2nd and 17th at Junior and Senior World respectively in '01, and 1st and 13th in '02.

Doesn't mean its a very smart rule! I actually think it is better to do eigher Junior or Senior Worlds but if a federation wants to do it than it is their decision. Having to switch back between Junior and Senior programms within 2 weeks probably puts them in a disadvantage anyways.

But if you look at the lists for ladies as an example there are a few we just saw at Junior Worlds. There's
Barbara KLERK (BEL) who is in her last season as a Junior. But what will it really do for her confidence if she fails to qualify for the free skate 3 time this season at an ISU championships?
Mirna LIBRIC (CRO) born in 1992! wow now that is brave! She skated a personal best at JWs and I hope she can do it again. I think for her being there is what counts.
Nella SIMAOVA (CZE) did very well at Euros. She also ages out at the end of the season and I hope she does better than she did in the JW short where she just about missed the cut off.
Elena GLEBOVA (EST) has been skating senior before her injury so I really don't want to consider her as one of the "juniors".
Beatrice ROZINSKAITE (LTU) onther girls born in 1992. seems like her Federation is really pushing her but i think worlds is a bit too early for her
Merovee EPHREM (MON) born 1990. I guess being the only skater representing Monaco she gets to go everywhere. but just like Klerk I wonder what its gonna do to her confidence. Lets hope she can skate a clean programm and maybe get a personal best!
Ivana REITMAYEROVA (SVK) born 1992. She did really well at JW so I guess sending her to Worlds is her Feds way of aknowledging that!
Sonia LAFUENTE (ESP) born 1991. Being the best Spanish lady I guess it was to be expected. I just hope she qualifies and has a bether free skate that she had at JW!

Yes its ok. Elena Glebova, Elliot Hilton, Dong/Wu, Javier Fernandez and a few others are going to worlds just after competing at Jr. Worlds.

Since the countries decide JW and SW world skaters, the ISU has no governing over this..

Since there is a rule saying one can't compete in GP and JGP, it presumes that any other junior/ non-junior mixing is OK>

Kwan competed in 1994 Junior Worlds at 13 and won it, and also competed in 1994 Worlds, where she finished 8th. Bobek also went to 1994 Worlds, but didn't make it out of qualifying.

1994 is the year I cambe back to watching figure skating after a long absence although there were some sporadic moments that I did see some skating. I remember reading somewhere that Kwan did not want to skate juniors and Frank Carrol was upset because he wanted her to continue in Juniors. Was that not true? I mentioned it because I now know there is no restriction on skating both in the same year.

Kwan took the Senior test at 12 without Frank Carroll's knowledge---he was shocked and displeased, and so was Kwan's father. Kwan competed at Senior Nationals in 1993 for the first time and was 6th.

I'm just wondering if the schedule for this year's Worlds is normal? cause it starts on Tuesday, and ladies free finishes on Thursday.... and no qualifying for mens and ladies' singles? just wondering....

There was no qualifying round already last year.

The host country decides the order of the events; the Men's event is last because Sweden has stronger men skaters than ladies.

Qualifying rounds were removed starting last year because they didn't make much sense under CoP, and it was ridiculous to start off with 45+ men and 50+ ladies skating a FS, only to eliminate another 6 skaters again after the SP. It also was expensive for the ISU and the organizers to house and feed the skaters for an extra two days.

There will be two very good Czech skaters at the Worlds in Gothenburg – Tomas Verner is the reigning European Champion and his teamate Pavel Kaska (born in May 1988) is also a very interesting skater. Disregarding the fact that Pavel is very tall (187 cm – 6’2’’) he is a very good jumper. He took a part at GP Skate Canada and finished on the 7th place beating for example Jeremy Abbott, Scott Smith, Jamal Othman.
