2023 Worlds: Info & Pregame Chat

Gosh, that takes me back. You don't hear much about Hayley Westenra these days. I had to look her up on Wikipedia. Sounds like her adult life has been a bit ordinary, married, divorced, engaged to someone else. My ideal holiday would be exactly the same, but with Worlds figure skating footage on tap with a massive TV screen. I will have to make do with epic hikes with views of mountains and lakes, hot springs and spa baths...
You are killing me, Sai Bon! I remember Hayley Westenra when she was this lovely young lady who I tried to grab off the stage in Boise ID at her Celtic Woman concert in 2007...her version of "May it Be" broke my heart with visions of New Zealand in the backround...now she is married, divorced and engaged and 35????? :frown:
How did you find Worlds on Peacock? I don't see anything when I bring up Peacock.
Here ya go

BTW, its pretty sad when NBC buys the rights and NBC broadcasting only makes two hours of skating availible to those that only have rabbit ears. I think the day I die, there will be high speed internet in the country

prolly a moot point at this point, but the last time I did predictions for worlds, I thought I did rankings for both short and long programs... or maybe I just dreamt it.

I see Josefin Taljegård isn't listed for Sweden. I thought she had the minimum's from Worlds 2021, but I guess that doesn't count??

Why do I feel like this group is going to link to some shady paid streaming website once the competition actually starts...? *sigh*
Personally, I wouldnt go to just any link by someone who joined the group and posted it. And I certainly would not pay.... Dont even know if there is a moderator...I would stay with a known entitiy and a known good link, like those provided by SYWTWFS. I am sure there will be pirates out there who will stream worlds for free...hopefully, no one gets a nasty virus on their computer from them....

The "Ticket Details" page on my electronic ticket has been updated with the competition start date, arena entry time, start time, location, ticket price, and a list of the event organizers. I still don't know where my seat will be...

Per Tixplus, you will not know your assigned seat until you get your ID on the first day of competition. My friend in Japan had a seat on her electronic ticket when she first received it, but today the seat disappeared! March 22 should be interesting. Common sense dictates starting ID distribution on March 20 when the arena opens for practice but no such luck :palmf:

Meanwhile, I haven’t received my practice etickets.

Peacock has the icons up on their website and the times come up for my time zone (U. S. Eastern time) with the adjustment for Daylight Savings time . There is no FS hub so I used this link which I got from a friend: https://www.peacocktv.com/watch/sports/sports-figure-skating
If you don't want to use the link you have go all the way to the end of the Live and Upcoming line and scroll all the way to the right and then click on "View all".

Thanks @MFarone for the link and the description. It appears that converting the Japan time to Pacific Daylight Time can be done by adding 8 hours to the Japan time and then subtracting a day. (Or, equivalently, by subtracting 16 hours from the Japan time.)

I am trying to imagine a sport so widely popular that you purchase a seat in an arena that could be in the 5th row or 25th? And the price is the same? Yum said her price changed...due to exchange rates? So it sounds like one has an e ticket but gets a paper ID? The ticket counter should be interesting the first day....

Wow. I go to the link and all I get is Nancy and Tonya and Meddling.
I go to my time zone converter and find out the Ladies Free ends at 9:20 pm Friday local or 5:30am Friday Spocal

Here is a link for worldtimebuddy.com: https://www.worldtimebuddy.com/ I set Tokyo in the 1st position and Spokane in the 2nd position. I went to March 17 moved the time to 5:20 p.m. and it shows the Spokane time as 1:20 a.m. March 17. The FS lasts about 4 hrs and should end about 5:20 a.m.

I didn't say anything about my ticket price changing; it was merely listed on the ticket along with the other information I said earlier. I already paid for my ticket.

I’m actually pleasantly surprised to see that for those of us in EST, the scheduling is fairly doable for live watching. Yes, the men’s short starts at 4 am Thursday, and that is a problem, but I should be able to see everything else.

(Note, I’m not much of a Ladies’ fan, so it is not a big deal for me to miss that.)
You are a stronger person than I am. Starting comps at 11:30 p.m. and ending at 2:50 a.m. are just awful for me. I can get up for a 4:00 a.m. start time but staying up all night just doesn't happen.

Pairs and Dance seem to be at a good time for us West Coasters - Singles, not so much. And dumb Peacock makes it much harder to catch a replay. At least we have USA network and some NBC coverage.
Wouldn't it be great if Peacock would at least tell us that replays are available for 2 days before the competition starts? But, this is Peacock so even if they are planning on making replays available they won't say anything and we will find out when a fan stumbles on them and posts the info. Yes, we can maybe catch a replay on the ISU stream using a VPN but only if the competition isn't taken down for a music violation.

As an antenna person with no cable tv I don't have USA network or E!. Excuse my ranting - I am just frustrated!
