Men's Long Program

Congrats to Johnny on his first World medal! Yes!
Good for Voronov - 4th FS is awesome, but bummed for Verner - ouch!
I am not a Buttle fan at all, but this skate was great - well done!

So happy for Jeff but again how did Brian get higher PSCs than Jeff?!? Anyway Jeff Buttle 2008 Men's World Champ. Sorry about Stephen and Takahashi and thrilled for Johnny.

Interview to Jeff
You can see Jeff can't believe it yet
He said it does not feel real yet, but he worked so hard for this. Thanking the coaches and his family.
(11 years since Canada won Worlds)
Turkish guy talking, so we can't hear but he say there is a strong team in Canada.
Says that he is proud of his bronze at Olys but it's a dream to compete in Vancouver.
His dream was to be World Champion and can't believe he now is
Thanking the support of the crowd, especially that it's sold out (we understand it Jeff, I'm surprised to)
LOL He says he'll try not to cry

As a huge Johnny fan, I am amazingly proud of his skates at this Worlds and his bronze

But it does feel annoying that he hasn't been able to skate this programme up to its worth. Here, his 4T was downgraded and 2-footed. He missed his 3A-3T, doubling it to 3A-2T. Missed out the 3T on his 3Lz-3T combo and the final jump on his 3Lz-2T-2R...

His SB at Cup of China, could have got him the silver ahead of Joubert. But even there he didn't max out his combos...meh

I actually got up and did a little dance...I love this podium!
So happy for the medalists; this was a comeback of sorts for all three.

OMG just can't believe I'm seeing myself crying! Congratulation to you Jeff!!! That's the best he has ever skated and he did it at the right time!

The podium seems about right, but I can't help but think that KVDP and Voronov deserved higher PCS. Comes with skating early, I guess.

I think Johnny felt he had to skate cautiously, and I am very, very proud of him!

I think that Brian came back like a champion, and I am also very proud of him!

As for Jeff, he finally conquered the Triple Axel, and I think that was very, very, very important! Congratulations on your win, Jeff!

I think that Daisuke was skating injured, and is very brave. He has my utmost respect!

This Worlds has been utterly amazing.

Congratulations to all the medalists!:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

And congratulations to you, Sergey Voronov, for giving Russia two entries in the Men's Singles next year!

A total surprise finish for me. I couldn't believe that Takahashi and Lambiel would both miss the podium. I am happy for the medalists! Athough I love Jeffrey, I would rather Brian gets the gold. So happy for Johnny!!!!!! It was not the best skate he could pull off, but it was enough for today.

Jeffrey got +GOE on every single one of his elements save the second lutz, which he got a 0 on

Brian got edge calls on both flips, but again had all positive GOE save those two jumps and the 2A-1T, which got a 0.

Johnny's quad was downgraded, and his loop and flip received negative GOE (edge call on flip)

I am THRILLED with that podium. Gosh, where to start? I love Johnny and he did so well!!!! I'm so proud of him for medalling. Brian is my sweetheart, after all he's been through that was one BEAUTIFUL skate and he must be VERY PROUD of himself. He was 6th, for heaven's sake! After a terrible season it was so much more than I expected.
And Buttle: CONGRATULATIONS! He did so well! Just look at him world champion when no one expected him to medal, some people didn't even expect him to reach top 10.
I'm thrilled!

Well, it sounds like Johnny was a little tight today, and it's understandable. He had a lot of pressure to do well both because of last year's season and because of those darn 3 spots we know the Federation was worried about.

I think he's gotten a HUGE monkey off his back with this result and now has the hardware to show he can compete with the best of the best. This should free him up to have confidence in his skating and "relax" into his programs next season!

And I hope he'll stick with the quad, and not use Buttle's victory as a reason to feel it's easy to win without it.

I've never cried over figure skating before....but I'm crying right now for Jeff it's not even funny. soooo happy and proud for Jeff Buttle!!!!:love::clap:

protocols are up

Jeff got only one -1, and that was it !!! Great GOEs

Brian's quad +1.29 GOE
KVDP 3-3-3 +1
Voronov's quad +1
Takahashi's quad +1.43
Those guys were good on their big stuff

Johnny's quad -2.43 underrotated = value1.57 (ouch)

I feel kind of bad for Joubert because he really could have done more jumping wise (although with the deficit it might not have mattered)

But still I hope we hear no more Daisuke should have been world champion. Why, because Daisuke has never been great under pressure. Yes, he skated well in the free skate last year, but it was after he was extremely far behind from the short.

(Talk all you want about whether the short program should or should not be in existence) BUT, don't assume that the person who won the long would have skated the same way.

I always like that Johnny talks on the podium, he was chatting with Jeff about the flowers. or probably saying "well I don't know who will throw who on the EX"

I think perhaps I should explain my view about what Johnny did. The other two U.S. skaters are 9th and 10th. That means that Johnny *had* to make the podium if the U.S. was to have three entries next year. For the sake of all the other U.S. male single skaters, I am very glad that he skated in a cautious way that pretty much guaranteed him a spot on the podium. I think it was highly responsible of him, and I hope that the USFS appreciates that.

Congratulations, Canada! You have had a brilliant Worlds!
