The Moskvich boys (sans Ilya and Lyosha) are entered for every competition from now until the end of the season. I guess it's their strategy to keep all options open, but I only expect them to actually show for the Prizes of the SPB and Moscow Feds. It would have been a spectacularly bad coaching decision to send Max and Kirill K. to some pointless competition in Samara when they could go to Novice Nats instead.Kirill Andrusik, Andrey Anisimov, Genrikh Gartung, Maksim Belyavskiy and Kirill Kropylev are all included in the Samarochka Cup, which is schedule to start today. Their names have been on the list for a while. If that goes ahead, I'm looking forward to it.

But since I'm invested in Team Moskvich I tried to find out via the usual backchannels if something unusual was going on there which would explain the absence of the boys. However, all I got was an admittedly juicy story about the transition of Kostyleva from Vika Butsaeva to Lyutikov. I swear, it was the most
I've read in a while. It had everything from sabotage, water poured into skates and poles broken just before jump training, to favouritism and conspiracy theories. The drama.

I totally agree, hence my 'attention' warning and the 'if's in my posts (especially since the entries were never confirmed). I didn't believe it either, but better safe than sorry.
The mere fact that they are entered everywhere even though we all know they only appear at more interesting comps is verging on the ridiculous.
What's the point, but it's a Russian thing. Nina Mozer mastered the art even better, she told everyone only at the start of the competition who was there and who was not, when it turned out to be clear days previously.It's just a tad annoying as I can never know whether I should bother against better knowledge - so I put it out there anyway.
Now I'm gonna watch a crucial play off hockey match involving my beloved CSKA
All's clear cut in the best sport in the world!

Yes, it's so annoying.
My usual cycle is - skater x appears on prelim entry list *getting all hyped up* - skater x is not on official entry list *omg, are they injured* - someone here tells me not to worry because it's just a strategy thing *worrying nevertheless*

Interesting that quite a few of those who qualified but aren't competing are AoP skaters (Khmelkova/Rud, Kira Trofimova, Yana Astashenkova) ... Wonder what that's all about... 
Edit: I guess shows are more important than competitions that could put you onto the national team (and in Khmelkova/Rud's case, they had a very good chance too)

still wouldn't you want establish yourself for next season...I guess Yana and Kira are pretty much guaranteed a spot at Russian cups as Moscow region isnt exactly filled with competitive skaters as they didn't even replace them with anyone else

What I'm most confused by is Khmelkova/Rud, this is the third competition they didn't attend where they could have qualified for the national team (Jr Nats, Sportakiad and now Novice nats). Unless they're planning on representing another country of course, then they probably wouldn't want to risk making the national team. (Apparently the last name Rud is of Norwegian origin, which is quite interesting)
