Who is their coach?
This picture was taken in Oberstdorf (if I'm not mistaken), so if they are based there and it's not just the location of their tryouts (which might well be the case), their coaches would most likely be Rostislav Sinicyn and Natalia Karamyseva (who also coach Janse van Rensburg/Steffan and Grimm/Savitskiy).
Milla and her former partner already trained under them, so I guess it wouldn't be too much of a change for her, which might help facilitate an easier transition for Nikolaj.

(Also, Mariia Tumanovska-Chaika's quirky and unique choreography would probably work well for Milla and Nikolaj's personalities 🤭)

France is gonna be France, but also there are SO MANY example of people within europe changing countries relatively easly within good time periods.

MANNI / ROTHLESBERGER: SUI - ITA
Dora HUS: GER - CRO
Julia SAUTER: GER - ROU
Nikita VITRYANYUK: CYP - ESP
Elise MONTANER: ESP - FRA
Solene MAZINGUE: FRA - EST
Latvian Ice Dance Team: GBR - LAT
HOTAREK: CZE - ITA
Mikhail AKULOV: RUS-SUI-FIN
Filippo CLERICI: ITA-FIN
Misato KOMATSUBARA: HUN-ITA-JPN
Michael CHRASTECKY: SLO-ITA
Ekateirna KURAKOVA: RUS-POL
Jari KESSLER: ITA-CRO
and many more.

Sure there may be some longer releases, but middle-level skaters often can get released with limited trouble
Lovely long list, but not very relevant, is it! We are talking about a concrete person, Cirisano getting released, so the only thing that is relevant is how Russia’s federation is willing to release their skaters. They may have released easily Gubanova, Kurakova etc, because they have much stronger ladies skaters. But they took three years to release Iliuschetchkina, refused to release Akopova to skate for Australia (at the time when Akopova had no results to speak of), refused to release Osipova to skate for Czechia… so the release of Ciriziano may not be as easy as you are implying. Ciriziano is the junior champion, winner of two junior Grand prix, and the state of the current Russian ice dance field is not as strong that they would think they want to lose their upcoming talent. The situation in ladies is different and even pairs are pretty strong, but ice dance is going through renewal. So how is it going to help that Cirizano has EU citizenship? Russia is currently pretty pi***d off for not being able to compete internationally, and Russian ice dance need strong couples, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they drag their heels with Cirizano’s release. He will be released eventually, but it can take quite a few years.

Billy Wilson French (British ice dancer) has teamed up with Sophia Gover (of Canada). More info about the team from their coaching team's website: https://www.icedanceelite.ca/meet-our-teams (scroll down to Sophia & Billy). They are training at Ice Dance Elite with Carol and Jon Lane and Juris Razgulajevs.

It seems, from Anything GOEs twitter post, that it is likely they will represent Canada which, short term, as junior skaters, may give them more opportunities than Britain, but long term seems like an odd decision, given the depth of Canadian dance vs British dance.

A new pairing:

Katarina Wolfkostin has announced that her new partner is Dmitry Tsarevski.
He was formerly paired with Isabella Flores until December 2021, he basically disappeared. Neither she nor her coaches could get ahold of him, and she ended up calling the police to do a wellfare check. So, he's okay apparently? Just... not the news I thought we'd see.

Interesting decision if they plan to skate for Canada. That would make it really tough to move up as seniors. But yes, many more opportunities re training in and competing for Canada.

I'm struggling to get words out of my mouth. Wha....

If he's okay, great. But I can't help but feel horrible for Isabelle Flores. She went through so much confusion, heartache, etc. from this...now he's back? I'm a bit confused.

I’m hoping that this means that Dmitri has resolved whatever issues may have contributed to his sudden and alarming disappearance, and that the positive atmosphere Charlie, Tanith & Greg have talked about wanting to create at their new center supports continued progress.

And also, Dmitri was a terrific dancer, before all the troubles, so it’s wonderful to see him able to return.

Whoa, wait a minute! Can Katarina trust Dima not to disappear on her at a crucial time?!!! I mean this brings up all kinds of wondering.

On one hand though, I'm not overly surprised to see Dima back. Just the other day, I was looking at Bella/ Dima's performances on the junior circuit at Gdansk and at Courchevel, in 2021. I was thinking how very talented Dima is and what a shame that he had stopped skating, because it was obvious how much he enjoyed it. So I've recently been wondering if he might come back. Bella & Dima were an outstanding team. They had won silver at both JGP events in 2021, and they were on pace to win junior ice dance at U.S. Nationals in Jan 2022, especially with the Browns out due to COVID. That was a truly tough experience for Bella. It was probably more difficult for Bella in the abrupt way it happened, without hearing anything from Dima.

At the same time, I don't want to place blame on Dima. It was clearly something upsetting and extremely emotional that happened. I don't think a public explanation is required. But I really hope that Dima has at least spoken to Bella at some point, or at the very least that he gave her a heads-up prior to this announcement. In some respects, maybe it's easier for Dima to come back now, because he sees that Bella is happy with a new partner in Ivan Desyatov, and they're doing so well. Clearly, Dima missed performing and competing, or else why would he return?

Possibly someone in the skating community helped Dima and his family. Or else, a professional counselor assisted. Maybe his parents came around to realizing how important skating is to him. Or, perhaps being older made a difference for Dima.

In Bella's case, I doubt that many people would have been able to come back from such emotional devastation last year. She had a lot of support from family, coaches, and friends, but still, she obviously had to go through stages of grief, doubt, and uncertainty before she could even move forward to search for a new partner. Bella and Vanya are truly lucky to have found each other. They are a special pair with a unique chemistry. Bella would have a successful career with either Dima or Vanya, but I think her chemistry and her physical match-up with Vanya is off the charts!

When I have watched Bella & Dima compete, my eye would mainly be drawn to Dima because of his large frame and his elegant way of moving over the ice. Bella has huge talent and dramatic expressiveness, and Dima partnered her beautifully, but his presence grabbed my attention more. Watching Bella & Vanya, I look at them both. They move together in a very powerful, energetic, and magical way.

So, good luck to Dima with Katarina. She is excellent technically, but she never captured my attention emotionally. Perhaps being partnered with Dima Katarina will look different and put more of herself into her performances. Now, I just want to see Jeffrey Chen partner with Avonley Nguyen. 🤞

I think there is a lot more to this story than we know. I don't fully trust what people have been saying to the media (especially when all the information comes from one POV). I don't want to accuse anybody of anything, but I wouldn't blindly believe everything that has been said up to now (even if it was said honestly, the fact is that nobody actually knows what happened).

If Charlie accepted him back, chances are there is good reason given his coaching philosophy.

^^ Of course, I would think that Charlie & Tanith are fully aware of the circumstances, and that they are assured of Dima being in a better place mentally. Otherwise, it wouldn't make sense for them to go forward in coaching this new partnership. I'd love to know which party reached out first. But as I said, I don't think the public needs to know exactly what happened.

As I said earlier, I do think it's important for full closure that Dima would have spoken privately to either Bella or his former coach prior to officially partnering with Katarina. I would think that Tanith and Charlie would have wanted that closure to have happened too.

I think it's normal for fans to speculate, but in this situation, I don't think taking sides is at all the way to respond. I don't think anything bad was said out of turn on anyone's part. The abrupt way that it happened, without any notice beforehand, just before U.S. Nationals, it would be normal to experience shock and worry. I feel for both Dima and Bella. In Dima's case, we don't know exactly what happened. In Bella's case, there's no way not to know how terrible and confused she felt. And then she had to go through stages of grief and acceptance before moving forward in any capacity. Happily, Bella & Vanya found each other. They are very well-matched, and they are continuing to improve every day.

Dima's experience was surely no less painful. As I said, we don't need to know exactly what happened. Seemingly, it was a family-related matter. If indeed it involved any discord at the rink, all evidence points to Bella & Dima having gotten along very well. They were both clearly excited about the career they were building. Anyway, mysterious and difficult things happen that sometimes turn out better for everyone in the end.

For instance, apparently J. Chen broke up with Katarina. But look at the wonderful partner she ended up landing, first. We'll see how it all turns out. If Chen and Nguyen do partner, it's going to bring even more excitement and insane depth to U.S. ice dance!

Knierim Frazier article Implies possible stepping away/retirement for now? Last paragraph seems ambiguous

To me, the article makes it pretty clear that Knierim & Frazier are moving on to pursue other interests. Despite not outright saying they are retiring, they still have other life pursuits in mind, front and center. Alexa said she's going home to Chicago after touring, to focus on her family life. Brandon is finishing his academic degree at UC-Irvine, and he has an internship with an investment banking firm.

Even though the last paragraph includes a comment that they are keeping their options open about returning for another season, I truly doubt that means this coming season. And if they don't return the season after that, then I seriously don't believe we'll see them compete again together. A lot of skaters don't like to say they are retiring. Michelle Kwan never made an official retirement statement, but she definitely moved on.
