Nadiia B/Peter B: great performance, flexibility, lifts. Unfortunate fall for P entering twizzles. Good commitment and stylised hands. Expected them higher. I think this programme could do really well in the future.

Of all the skaters that I saw, Smolkin really impressed me the most. Actually overall the men impressed me more than the ladies. Gleb, Gage and Logan definitely outshined their partners. I don't necessarily think they outdanced the ladies, it's just that they were more charismatic.

Performance wise, no one really wowed me but understandable since its early in the season.

Really happy to see The Brown Sibs leading in the RD. Maybe finally they will get acknowledged this year. Frustrating heretofore. And Wolf and Tsar would have been fourth using their scores from the other end of the comp. Not bad at all. While Jeff and Co. would have not fared well in this end of the Jr comp. Did Jeff shoot himself in the foot? Hoping not. Oy.

Yahli and Jeffrey would have been in a close 5th place if we take their score from the domestic part of this competition, that's not "not faring well" in my opinion.
Now, to be fair, W/T would have been the 3rd highest-ranked US team, and P/C the 5th highest-ranked one, but there are also a lot more top seniors missing than top juniors.

While W/C were a well-matched team on paper, clearly something was not working out with them, as they rarely managed to put together two clean skates, taking turns in making serious mistakes. If these new partners are a better match (and at least for Katarina this very much seems to be the case), then I'm all for it. Plus, who knows how these two would have fared if they had stayed together, they had a big spread of scores in the RD last season.

I mean, considering Carhart/Horovyi scored 4 points less here than at Jr Worlds, and Stanley/Sosnenko 15 points more... Not sure if we can make direct comparisons across seasons and competitions, especially with a lot of the teams at Jr Worlds moving up to seniors and/or splitting up, and it being so early in the season (where most teams are far from as polished and practiced as they'd be at the end of the season

IAM has helped the Browns. Their first senior season, last year, they were noticeably slower than other seniors at Nationals.

As far the juniors go, they still have a pattern dance. This year it is the Rocker Foxtrot, a dance I have never seen done in junior or senior competition; it is occasionally seen in Novice. I have never seen it done with defined key points being graded. Looking at the protocols, the kids were missing the key points.

And the Key point 2 in sequence 1 and Key point 1 in sequence 2 have been recently changed , as of ISU Communication 2569. They are now:

I am not sure how to think about that. I presume it is one of the easier patterns. Does it give a boost to younger juniors because they have danced it competitively more recently? Does it favor more experienced teams?

It will be interesting.

Robinson/Portz's SS are 5.25 according to Italian judge and 7.5 according to Korean judge
German judge thinks Lanahan/Razgulajev's SS were the best of the night....Turkish judge thinks they were 12th
