Wow, I mean I loved that tune back in the day, but it is one overwrought ballad. (probably why my younger self loved it). Oh well, if they don't have any unfortunate mistakes, the Browns are one of the few young teams with enough personality that it won't overwhelm them.

At least that's my story, not that I've seen it.

what do you mean by mistake?

if you mean falls or completely missed elements, that is rare for Oona and Gage. They can be sloppy with their elements, or not as fast as they should be, but outright mistakes, no.

All went for Davis/Smolkin except for the Canadian judge. She put Bashynka/Beaumont first
US judge not too kind to the Browns (compared to Pate/Bye and McNamara/Spiridonov).

Carhart/Kolosovsky didn't fall in the element. The -2 was extended lifts. But they were messy in half of the elements.

The Ice Dance judges are often quite generous.
It is the Single and Pair ones who are holding out.

I am obviously just having fun here... i think your comment regarding Singles and Pairs is quite correct. For Ice dance, the situation may be a tad better, but then Canadians are strong in that discipline

Maybe after Covid but pre-covid I remember there were some talks of Skate Canada president only judging in majors events and favoring specific Canadian ice dance team.

I'm pretty sure ISU got formal notice about it because ISU council discussed it and created rules specifically for her case.

I actually did like Robinson/Portz, they had decent skills and have some of the same teddy-bear qualities as Pate/Bye—who they reminded me of quite a bit. I think I liked them the best of the Canadian teams here, and there were lots of them entered, both junior and Senior.

Pretty close between W/T and F/D (2.6 points apart), will be interesting to see how USFS handles these two new(-ish), but so far scoring potential-wise comparable teams.

Hmm, it's gonna be a huge battle at U.S. Nationals in ice dance, period. Especially between the fairly new and up-and-coming mid-tier teams. As I've repeatedly said, the sport must work harder on evolving their competitive structure. There is simply too much depth domestically and internationally in all disciplines, especially in ice dance.

Look at how they cut 10 men at Worlds with reasonable scores. Those remaining practically all had scores over 200. The fact that a team in pairs like Calalang/ Johnson had to sit home for Worlds and Olympics with their talent, while teams with lesser talent got to compete from other countries, is seriously problematic. The U.S. and Canada have more ice dance talent than they can provide assignments for. The current state of affairs with sparse, outdated competitive opportunities, doesn't make practical sense.

At Lake Placid, I noticed that the Browns and Pate/Bye had slightly lower scores in the free dance than Wolf/ Tsar and Flo/ Des. But Browns and P/B have total scores that slightly edge W/T and F/D, due to higher RD scores. Meanwhile, McNam/ Spiro were slightly behind Flo/Des in the RD (nearly tied), but M/S dropped much farther behind in points in the free dance, so they are around 8 pts behind F/D overall. We haven't even seen Bratti/ Somerville yet, as they withdrew from Dallas Classic. And Zingas/ Kolesnik withdrew from LPIDI.

I realize it isn't advisable to try and compare points across events. Still wow, it's going to be a battle in ice dance at U.S. Nationals, in January.

Oh no, falls are always a huge disappointment. Without the fall, the Browns may have prevailed, which would have been a huge boost for them. Still, overall, this event showing is a gain for them and nothing to hang their heads over.

I should mention that having seen just about all of the second-tier/up and coming/new, reconstituted or repartnered US teams here, my money would be on Wolfkostin/Tsarevski as the ones to watch. If I were USFS, looking to fill that TBA showcase spot at Skate America, this is who I would pick, just based on what I saw here.

Oh, Neset/ Markelov are wonderful ice dancers. They share the same coaches with Flores/ Desyatov at WASA ice dance, in Colorado Springs. You should take a look at N/M's performances at 2023 junior Worlds, if you haven't already. BTW, Dima briefly skated with Leah Neset in intermediate ice dance, sometime before he partnered with Bella Flores. Lots of musical chairs partnerships.

As far as 'who to watch,' I will be watching all these talented ice dancers. It's way too early in this 'next generation' journey to count anyone out. But of course, as fans, none of us can resist being drawn to our fave teams.

I like them because they took Men without hats and A-Ha for their RD (I could have done without the rest LOL) but in that field I have a couple teams I'd rank above, purely in terms of personal preference. I have never seen them live though. I actually like Pate and Bye quite a lot so I guess I would enjoy them too. These competitions, where the top 4/5 teams from neither USA/CAN are present are very interesting to watch. I find that it's the perfect place to "adopt" new favourites.

some fans were talking about this on GS and that's what we do here but are the allegations justified ? ... I don't personally think Caron really did too many favours to VM... They won the other judges too as they were superior. I won't be pointing fingers right now this season, but there are a few judges I am watching : from the USA and France
